Alright, all has been fine and dandy with emissions and all over the course of the past four years. Have passed evey one no problem even with a check engine light on. I deleted it with the sct xcal2 tuner. However, i get home today to my dad laughing/chuckling right when i walk through the door. He hands me the following piece of paper.

However, this was with the old setup and the xcal tune. With the new engine i believe that i am running a stock svt ecu so it has no xcal tune on it yet. Thus meaning that i should pass by emissions. If you have an xcal, BEWARE OF CT.

rumor was that this is how it is here too. but just have someone drive with you who also has a cougar but stock. let them scan your old sticker, hook up to their car, and re-apply new sticker on your car.

wtf  I'm going to not have a choice when I am done with my car..

btw did you have the down stream O2 sensors turned off? maybe that is what is being refered to as that is definately how I read it.

in your case if you have the SVT PCM then you have a stock program. But I would think that you should be able to flash back to stock for emissions and then go back afterwards.

No, they were on...i got the paper that said pass and then tada, today i have a problem, bastards. As for the ecu, since i can run her on the stock svt ecu i should pass no problem(just delete cel's) but if i get a tune and revert it too stock will it still affect it aka like leaving a cookie on your computer when you visit a website? If all else fails, i'll just apply for a composite vehicle test.

I really have no idea if flashing it leaves a trail. this seems to indicate that it does. But as the letter says it has to communicate like OEM, and the OEM program would.

now didn't you have the tune done by SCT? wouldn't it have to be 50 state compliant?

this is complete crap. one could just mess with everything and the car would be no where near emmisions leagal and here we are having the car tuned so that it will be, ie not running rich, in fact making it better for the environment and we get crap for it

I have to see if I get anything, last time my car was in for emmissions it still had the pre-cats, pcm and mil-eliminators ...

jared if I where you I would hop on the SCT forums and ask the question there is the state can really tell and send them a copy of your tune to see if they can spot something in it that would cause this problem.

I am going to go onto SVTperformance.com and as the CT people there as I am sure someone has tuned there mustang, etc with a xcal2 and gone through CT emissions

well from what I have read on the SCT forums a tune should be transparent to an emissions test. people, mostly mustangs that failed emissions where because things where changed that caused it to fail, like tuning off the down stream O2 sensors, etc. I bet the place you got your tune from messed with something that caused a problem. I would recoment sending your tune to SCT and asking about it so we know.

Yes, as this is something we discussed with warmonger about a year ago, because of the emissions testing and if turning sensors off would cause it to flag "system not ready" labels on the OBD-II machines...

Tom said it wouldn't, but certainly there is something happening here that people need to be aware of...
