Everything is getting nailed down pretty early, so lets see if we can get some plans going for those who are interested in going. I know we don't have too many people here locally, but the few we have would definitely be interested in CF I think.

Cougarfest will be in Indianapolis in the weekend of July 11th-13th. Driving straight from my house to Indy, Google estimates 1,752 miles and 25 hours driving time, add in gas and rest and I'd guess we could make it in 30 using 2 drivers.

We've got a while to sort everything out, but if you're planning on going, start saving the moolah now, cuz gas could be pricey by July!

Count me out, blew half my vacation time with the wifes surgery and the other half is for my nephews wedding.

Ive done the drive from here to Chicago in 29 by myself with approx 4-5 hours sleep, just remember its not speeding unless you get caught.

Beltronics radar detector and CB radio for communication with the truckers FTW.

So I'd like to arrive on Thursday (evening is OK). Google Maps says its 1733 miles, and estimated 25 hours. We could leave early Wednesday morning from Phoenix and if we stop somewhere and sleep for a few hours be in Indy by Thursday night. Right now that may be our best bet, because I'm not sure how we'd do backup drivers, since it looks like everyone will take their own car and I'm not sure about Royce's availability to co-drive with me. And leaving Monday morning from the hotel and getting back Tuesday night. So for us it would be a Wednesday-Tuesday event, with hotel reservations Thursday night thru Sunday night (4 nights @ $72/night = $288 for the weekend for your OWN room. Obviously less if you split the room with someone.) Who knows what gas costs will be by then. Plan on around $600 round-trip in gas, I think (Cougar gas mileage obviously). Obviously cheaper if you split the gas costs with someone. So BY YOURSELF costs would be somewhere around $1000 for gas, hotel, food, entertainment while in Indy, etc. Obviously splitting a room would be best (my plan), it looks like gas will be the big cost for the drive.

One thing I will do before Fest is get my CB radio working again. We can use the walkie-talkies amongst ourselves, but if I have a CB that can be great in that I can communicate with the truckers about where the cops and stuff are, as well as any traffic jams and so on ahead of us.

C'mon AZ NECO, we gotta represent at Fest this year!!

Bumpage as we're getting closer to the date! I plan on being in no matter what, preferrably in my car, but if its not in shape to make the drive, I will be glad to ride along and help co-drive with someone.

I'm thinking that I might pick up Mavro Gato (if it's ready) in WV, drive it to fest and then caravan back with your guys.

It's still in the works so, yeah... more to follow.

Anyone want to split a room once we get there? Or does everyone want their own room?

I'd definetly split the cost of a room, but I can't confirm if I'm going yet...

Trust me. Take the southern route.
When I lived in Chicago I would come out here every Summer and tried the Northern route once and wanted to kill myself half way through. That 300 extra miles of nothing but flat plain land with nothin to see made it seem like the trip took 20 hours longer

I agree. The southern route is just more straightforward. I went that route a couple times, from here to Bloomington, IL... usually around 23 hours with no sleeping (but several stops). Plus, there's a huge (warehouse) fireworks store on that route... can't remember exactly where though.
