I finally have the cold-air ready and finished I am glad to offer another product to ya'll & CEG. I tested the cold air it was so cold the air I had to back the timing up because the tune was advance it to far due to the colder air. We had 70's degree weather and I was getting 68 degree air temp with the engine at 218 on the fly and I was getting the same on idle. So I see so far it is not heat soaking and surley it is not starving for air with 23 lbs/min of air at 6700 rpms plus you can hear the air being drawn in really loud. I offering these babies with the MAF/bolts/coupler/clamps/pipe/filter starting at $109 for the kit.
here are the pics of the intake on the car now after installation.

do you have to drill a hole for this or does it go through the hole in the fender. That is a really good deal!

That's awesome Joey! Now what about making a CAI for a straight 3L with the 3L UIM? Do you think this may be something that you'll be constructing in the future?

I'd dump that stock accordian tube.
Cool idea, but my cars already cold aired. So, not really much use for me.

A full kit due to the large box is $20 shipped anywhere in US. I will give some a great price on the first guy who tries it and promise to give feedback and post pics.......

Probably not, but worse comes to worst you can do some trimming of a pipe to fit.

When Joey first introduced this on the forums, I asked him if it went through the stock inner fender opening and he said it does but requires some trimming.
As for being able to use it with a SRI tube...it looks possible. But could require some trimming as was said.

so you said you had to change your tune because of this. if i was to order both a xcal2 and a cai how would you go about making a custom tune w/the varying temp's around the country?

You do not need a tune for the CAI it will already add timing due to the cooler air increasing power and torque. joey

So......about my question in post #3, do you think you will be designing a CAI for a 3L UIM in the cougar?

Yeah the only revision I am thinking of to make the 3 liter UIM work is to provide a 45 degree coupling instead of a straight. Joey

Seeing as this is already in a Contour, would it be safe to assume this works with a Cougar 2.5L? I'd be overly interested in it if it is.

Nope it only works in Contours. Why in the world would you think something for a 4 door sedan that was produced several years before the cougar would work on the cougar. They are completely different cars, duh.

I'm guessing that is sarcasm... lol
Engine bays are identical in the Cougar and Contour but the area for the filter (bumper area) is significantly larger in the cougar so the filter should fit perfectly fine. You will most definitely need to cut into the car for this to fit as with any of the cold air intakes that are out there. It sounds like the Contour guys don't need to cut holes based on the CEG thread. The Cougar fender must take up a bit more room in that area.

burrita, suprised this hasnt been asked but what happens to the intake temp sensor?. Also have you tried fitting your kit with the BAT intake tube with your intake
[I ask this because pudmonkey's heatsheild will not fit with the bat intake tube and a non-svt tb... because the adaptor adds a bit of length]

Your IAT sensor stays in the factory accordian I will make a straight intake pipe on the dyno day to see if the gains are enough but as far as fitment it should work just fine since it is close to the factory MAF location.

Do you have the pic of it I can show you what I do with the Turbo kits. You take a 7/16-14 tap thread the pipe then take the sensor and snip the plastic bridge over the sensor tip and then use a 7/16-14 die and make threads on the IAT and screw it in the Die acts like a NPT since it is tapered. Therefore the Sensor seals as it tightens. It hold up to 16 psi on my turbo kits if you need pics let me know. Joey
PS I will tap the CAI pipes before I paint them if so and revise the description options on the site. Thanks for the heads up joey

Some of the kits out there have installed the IAT into a coupler. A small hole in the rubber seems to hold the IAT in very well and it doesn't require pipe modification.

BTW here is a picture of the fender area that piping would have to go through. Is the Contour fender area different?

I don't have to relocate anything it looks stock and it took me a whole hour to install the kit with removing the front bumper and the sawzaw are $50 at lowes. My goal in designing things is get the preformance and still make the car look like it is stock. Joey

So $60 for just the extension piping and couplers? And has anyone tried fitting this or a similar one to a 2.0 WeaponR intake? I'd like to give it a shot if no one has failed miserably already. Seems like it should be close, maybe a little extra work. And how can I order just the extension?

Well as long as you don't hack the hell out of it it wont matter much. You can always seal it up and it'll be as good as new.

YOu dont need eight feet long of an intake, save your money, your not gaining any more power. Besides you have 2L, your going to spend $60+ to gain maybe a hp to extend your intake another foot, spend the money elsewhere. Besides it looks horrible on 2L with intake's that go into the fender, its just over kill.

Yeah i thought it might look kinda bad, just wondering if anyone had tried it. But thanks for your opinion.
