I tried this today and i got 6 seconds from start line to 40mph, just wondering if this is either:
Horrible | Good | Pretty Good | let's not go this far....

It's an ATX with High flow cat, magnaflow single exit exhaust, and CAI.
The oil is a little burned so i will do the change this weekend, The plugs and wires where changed when the car was 108k miles, the car now reads 124k miles, but they were replaced @ a shop and i suppose they are the cheap kind . . .

I need to gut my pre-cats but i don't think i'll do that anytime soon...
Car runs pretty good, no CEL.

People in the car was me and a friend if that matters. . . (weight wise)

What are your opinions? Answer freely.

dont most ppl measure 0-60 mph for comparison times, i mean its just easier for comparison if everyone measures the same speeds.
0-40 in 6 seconds sounds about average for the car tho to me

I'm pretty positive I can hit that in less time, and my mods include ebay intake and removed muffler piped out... rebuilt tranny around 100k (now 120k) if that matters. I need to time mine, but it isn't too bad... I'll get a rough figure tomorrow.

You are right, but i was not at a track, and i didn't wanna risk going over the speed limit even though the roads were isolated.

Check it out and let us know, although if you have an MTX that would most likely make a difference.

Edit... ok i think you have an ATX as well.

It was moved . . . when it likely should have just been locked or deleted.

But you know, 1/10th mile drags are becoming all the rage nowadays. :cover:

Idk why it was moved... it was better where it was.
And what's wrong with measuring 0-40? It was just a quick test since i got 8 seconds a year ago when i had 100 pounds from my system on the rear and only mods were SRI.

Although, couple days ago, i raced this ATX 2006 Honda Accord v6 and i beat him by a car length
I will see how i do on the 0-60, because apparently since everyone does 0-60, i got to do it too...

Vix, it's called a standard. It's what everyone goes by. How many cars do you read about in magazines where they are like, "The new Corvette does 0-40 in 2.45 seconds.." It's all 0-60.

Anyways... Back on topic.

Idk what's the big deal =/... Just thought i would share and see if this is normal or not very good.
I don't care if you can do faster than me, i'm not into racing, specially with an ATX so if you can do faster, that's good, proud of you... but that's not what this thread is about.

Just thought i would clarify that to certain people.

i don't think any one was saying that they were faster than you.

they were saying why woulkd you do a 0-40? and how could you even count that? and other things like that :)

edit: and that they could motorboat faster than you.

Just out of curiosity, if you're "not in to racing" and your car is running without any problems, why does your zero to forty time matter?

Because i wanted to see if this is normal for an ATX with as many miles as it's got, and maybe get some advice of what i can do to make it run it's best. Just because i want a faster car does not mean i want to race.

I was reading this thread last night and on the way home from work tonight, I clocked myself and I got about 5.06. That was off a stopwatch. Engine at operating temp, outside is about 29 degrees, and I was alone. My tranny has 74,000 miles and my engine has about 52,000.
I also have gutted pre-cats, custom intake, plugs and wires have about 200 miles on them. Since this thread is not locked I though I would share.

Nice, ya my engine is a little used up (almost 125k) but tranny has about 8k miles on it since it was rebuilt. I guess gutting the pre-cats would help a little bit. I am going to change plugs & wires when summer starts and sometime around summer also maybe gut my pre-cats and see how that changes time. Oh ya i need an oil change too... is pretty much dark brown...

Thanks for the info though man, (for comparison). ;)

No prob vix

And for kustom

OK. slow down and read. I WAS READING THIS THREAD LAST NIGHT. (MEANING TWO DAYS AGO ACCORDING TO THE TIME RIGHT KNOW)

ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK.
(MEANING YESTERDAY ACCORDING TO THE TIME ONCE AGAIN)

So on 12/11/2007 sometime around 11:30 pm I read this post and on 12/12/2007 sometime around 10:00 pm I timed myself.

Get it.

Yes there should be a comma at the end of night and a period at the end of work. But anyone with common sense and able to read should have got the point.

Idk what's the big deal =/... Just thought i would share and see if this is normal or not very good.

You've taken a lot of flak already, so I won't pile it on. However, if you want I will explain why this is totally useless information and impossible to judge without timing lights. The "human error" factor in small times such as these (even with a stopwatch) make the results +/- 2s, hence eliminating the entire reason for doing the "test" in the first place.

In the spirit of IBTL . . . yes, yes I have. There's a sandwich joint near me that has delicious, tasty, wonderful goodness sammichs and artery-clogging fries . . . but it is NOT a pleasant thing to be downwind of me for a few hours after I eat there. :puke:

I'm rather sure there's something in Detroit that screws yer stomach up, too, dude. :P I do know my toilet has never been the same... ;)
