Anyone know where I can get a centerforce clutch kit for a little cheaper than what they are at summitracing? Also anyone have any recommendations on the spec clutches? I am looking for complete kits not just disc.

Alot of members here are using SPEC clutches, here is a link for the best prices you'll find on them. CEG Forums - View Single Post - SPEC Clutch and Flywheel Prices... (http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showpost.php?p=57848&postcount=1)

I have a spec stage 1 in my car....it's worn and slips sometimes, but I love the feel and engagement of it.

How many miles did you get out of it before it started slipping?

It was well trashed when I installed it....long, long story.

Somewhere around 16-18psi I'm starting to slip the Spec Stage III. Considering 11psi netted me 374 ft/lbs of torque to the wheels, I would figure it's starting to slip around 450+ ft/lbs to the wheels . I need a stage 3+, which will increase this by 100 ft/lbs. IIRC.

well there is a guy selling new in box stage 3+ for 350 in the for sale section. I dont need anything that big though. Mine is daily driver and I dont plan on installing FI.

No, sorry I don't. One of the other members here, showed me the link to the price list. I never contacted the SPEC guy though.

I have a SPEC III and it has never slipped. Even with a 125 shot and drag radials at the track it didn't budge! It's an awesome clutch!

I bought my Spec 3+ from SVTCuervo on CEG. He's a little slow to respond sometimes but his prices are great.

Most people use the stage 1 as a slight upgrade over stock. If you're going for a lot of power you'll want the stage 3 or 3+.

Something else to think about, if you're only doing minor bolt ons (no 3L or FI) a new OEM SVT clutch would probably do well and they're cheap. Something like 260 I think I paid for mine from Steve at Tousley  Not to mention they engage great and can last a long time.

Yeah I really am pretty much replacing stock. I've heard a lot of complaining about shuttering on the spec 1 but I really dont need somehting bigger. I dont plan on ever putting FI on my car. Plus its a 2.5l not the 3.0. I mena I guess I was wondering if the centerforce clutch was really worth the extra 200 bucks.

You should probably just go through Steve at Tousley Ford (10% over cost on parts) and get a SVT clutch kit. The spec stage 1 clutch is supposed to be the same as the SVT clutch and I think the chatter has been more common with the spec vs. the stock SVT clutch.

i had a spec stage 2. From what most people on here say.....that clutch is junk, but i love it. It held up fine too my spirited driving and it outlasted two transmissions but after like 45-50xxx miles it was game over. I'm sure if you drive normal it can easily last close to 70-80 range. O yeah and the chatter was minimal also overall a great clutch and great price just don't use the slave cylinder they send you mine was junk and exploded a few weeks after install. But hey i got a whole new kit outta the deal so....

I was wondering if the Centerforce dfx clutch had the counterweights on the pressure plate? Hopefully someone can let me know.
