i can meet up with people, i just dont have the coug. my dad just told me that the shop where its at is closeing the end of this month. so i may never see my motor again.

Danef150
04-10-2008, 06:28 PM
so whats going on with the motor of your coug ?

c0alition
04-11-2008, 06:40 PM
what shop is it at?

Danef150
04-11-2008, 11:25 PM
Got the cougar back! :) So you still gonna be @ the skate park? Let me know i might drop bye.

YOSLVR442
04-17-2008, 04:15 PM
the cougar is still up in pennsy. i had trouble with the cat cams i got from europe. there was some miscommunication and so that meant bent valves and timing was off. now the shop is closing for good the end of this month. yay for me

YOSLVR442
04-17-2008, 04:18 PM
so whats with the flury of conversation all of a sudden??

Danef150
04-17-2008, 04:50 PM
Maybee its cuz i got my cougar back...but idk...If i were you i would go pick my cougar up from that shop befor it closes and they take your car with whatever mods you had done to it. I dont know if you have the money but you could always get it shipped...my car came from Manchester Newhampshire. good luck with it.. I hope they dont close up with your car still there

YOSLVR442
04-21-2008, 10:03 AM
me either. my dad is up near the shop, i think he is going to be taking back to his house when it closes.

c0alition
07-22-2008, 10:27 AM
whoaaa.. all the other posts went away? Anyway.. anyone know a decent exhaust/muffler/even welding shop around baton rouge? I ordered a header for my zetec.. but it doesn't mount up directly to stock exhaust.. so i'm thinking instead of buying a cat back, just get some shop to put me one together for alot cheaper.. any ideas?

Danef150
07-22-2008, 05:14 PM
Buy the catback in Stainless...alumanized is a waste of time and money
Just get them to rig the part between the header and the catback...

c0alition
08-01-2008, 01:04 AM
hey anyone have xcal to turn off sensors and turn off the auto learn mode for the cougar?

YOSLVR442
08-05-2008, 09:12 AM
nope sorry man. have you found an exhaust shop yet??

c0alition
08-05-2008, 05:37 PM
one on florida blvd wants to do it, but i found a car care shop that i can swap some computer work for there time maybe.. so i'm gonna try there first. i'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible.. spent so much money on all the other parts.. ha. btw, just got my nitrous installed this weekend.. thinking about heading out to the track.. or maybe a back road somewhere to really try it out ha.. haven't really done anything but second gear with it yet.. wheels just start slipping and clutch slips any higher than third .. i gotta figure out a better way to drive i think.

YOSLVR442
08-06-2008, 04:26 PM
ahahah sounds like it. let me know if you go anywhere, id like to tag along.

Danef150
08-09-2008, 01:01 AM
You guys do know that Nautilus Performance. The people who created the turbo kit for the contours and cougars is located in Houma Louisiana righ? I mean if i ever go to get tuned im sure not gonna go to a mustang tuner 1 hr away when i can go to a contour-cougar tuner 2 hrs away...Just a thought

YOSLVR442
08-11-2008, 11:54 AM
wow, i had no idea that they were down there. thats pretty cool. thanks for the heads up.

YOSLVR442
08-14-2008, 09:14 AM
latest update on my coug is that the motor should be built by the end of next month. im not holding my breath but thats what they say.....

Danef150
08-14-2008, 02:52 PM
Thats awesome...ive run out of moneys so my cougar is the farthest away from having a 3.0 as its ever been...I need to get some mil eliminators and gut my cats i think their clogged...my imrc's are opening but i dont have much power up top...so im blaming the cats :) Other than that she drives just fine other than all the squeaking from the Stangkiller LCA's which there is a groupe buy on if you dont allready have a set they greatly reduced wheelhop even befor i added solid front and rear trans mounts.

YOSLVR442
08-15-2008, 09:01 PM
yeah i know what its like to not have moneys. im sure its the cats! haah so the lca's helped then huh?? sounds like your car handles like dream. i wasnt to concerned about handling. lol

c0alition
08-15-2008, 11:54 PM
funny that you mention the lca.. since i got my nitrous installed i have had my first experience with wheel hop.. i'd heard about it.. but my car was making no power so it wasn't an issue.. but yea.. just took off the other day and sprayed and thought i was going to kill my whole car rofl.. the cd player kit fell out of dash, and whole car just jarred soooo hard.. i should probly do something about that..

Danef150
08-16-2008, 12:10 AM
Wheel hop is a quick way to kill your tranny. I would be careful until i got my wheel hop fixed if i were you...There are several ways not just lca's but i did more than one. LCA's with solid filled motor mounts..It works really well and makes the car feel like a bit of a racecar. a very slow racecar :) And yes the car does handle pretty well if i must say so myself but i rarely push it :)

c0alition
08-16-2008, 12:54 AM
yea.. i only got bad hop once, and won't be spraying anymore till i get the car finished.. the bottle is empty now anyway

YOSLVR442
08-16-2008, 11:11 AM
have you ever brought your cougar to a road course?? im sure it would do pretty well.

c0alition
08-16-2008, 11:36 AM
dane, you say solid filled motor mounts.. I believe I read a post on someone doing that themselves.. you ever mess with it? or did you just buy them..?

Danef150
08-16-2008, 12:29 PM
I havent made it to any road courses i just know what it does on the backroads out here im pretty conservative with how i drive anyways but i have very good confidence going through most turns on my roads...at 70 rain or shine...But yea it would be fun to bring out to some tracks...I just need to get a job first then i can move on to bigger things :)

Yea i bought them done allready the reason i did wasnt because i couldnt do it it was because Pole120 had a jig set up and he burnt all the old rubber material out of them befor then filling them all the way up with Urithane...But i dont think he doest it for the 2.0's...then again if you have a mtx it might be the same. because we have the same transmission. Anyways from what i understand its stupid easy just support the motor remove the mounts put some duck tape on one side and fill from the other.

c0alition
08-16-2008, 08:42 PM
hmm.. i know the mount on the passenger side is busted filling them just replaces the rubber i guess?

YOSLVR442
08-16-2008, 09:17 PM
yeah, you can also just fill the stock mount with urethane. i actually filled mine with urethane and firberglass resin. they work well.

ice992
08-18-2008, 09:38 PM
so, anybody got a coug layin around? ive had an itch to get one... and rebuild it... i found a wrecked zetec the other day in a junk yard but its sooo far gone lol

Danef150
08-18-2008, 09:58 PM
I'll keep my eyes out for one...Then again i cant promise if its a good deal that i wont snatch it up :) I would check craigslist. But i will deffinatly keep my eyes open.

YOSLVR442
08-19-2008, 11:57 AM

ice992

Danef150
08-20-2008, 07:52 PM
I would never try to get someone to buy an Auto...Your safe if i find one for ya.

ice992
08-20-2008, 08:29 PM
lol my 99 was an auto tragic and it was fun, but it was pointless... so it was all for fuel economy, looks and audio... i was gettin like 38 mpg on long highway trips tho

c0alition
08-21-2008, 01:16 AM
sorry i'm completely dropping the topic.. but can anyone of you weld decent? I just bought a 302 for a mustang i have sitting at my house, and i found some mounts for it online.. but they are gonna have to be welded into the engine bay.. anyone of you up to that?

ice992
08-21-2008, 02:31 PM
I think this is now our randomly out of control thread like every other chapter has lol...

I can weld, but do not have the equipment... i've welded small stuff... never motor mounts but ive welded up to 3/8 thick piping together and it was fine with 10k of pressure on it... hehe...

Danef150
08-21-2008, 07:19 PM
Im sure my opinnnion wont mean much...but i think i would have something like that done by a professional...Ive heard stories of people mounting the motors in at the wrong angle and snapping driveshaft bolts left and right...Not to mention the fear of the weld breaking due to not being welded by a professional...not knocking your welding Ice but im sure you wouldnt want that kinda stuff on your concience either.

ice992
08-21-2008, 08:39 PM
no offense taken, agreed... I'd gladly weld up anything anyone needed (if I had equipment) but motor mounts are an area of extreme precision...

Danef150
08-21-2008, 10:14 PM
Now all we have to do is find you a cougar :p....too bad none of us have auction liscences...you should see some of the cars junkyards pick up to part out for no good reason...Anyways if you dont mind a good long drive Dallas seems to have a ton of good condition cheap 5 speed cougars...For some reaons louisiana sellers seem to think they can charge 5-6k for a 99 cougar with 100k miles when i payed 6800 ttl for my cougar almost 5 years ago...Most of the ones in dallas are 3-4k

c0alition
08-21-2008, 11:01 PM
yea.. didn't think about the wrong angle.. was just a kinda spur of the moment idea..

BTW, my pastor has an auction deal.. that's where I got my cougar from.. $4000 110k miles.. I can ask him if he see's any cougar's go through the line..

ice992
08-22-2008, 01:59 AM
see, trolling is your friend, I'm all over this (http://www.newcougar.org/forums/florida-neco/127724-3l-sale-again-1-200-a.html) like a fat kid on a little debbie... 1200... 5spd... 3L... tuned... I'm working a deal as we speak...

anyone wanna buy a 92 stealth rt?

c0alition
08-22-2008, 12:00 PM
mannnnn i wish i would have seen that ha.

ice992
08-22-2008, 12:07 PM
haha... The second it was bumped I was all over it... Wanna buy a stealth? lol it needs 250$ worth of repairs, and I'll do them for you and you've got a good running car with fresh main bearings in it (already did those!)

Ive got my fingers, toes eyes and nuts crossed that I get this coug...

c0alition
08-22-2008, 02:35 PM
idk if i have enough money.. how much? and what repairs need to be done? it would help to have another car while i'm projecting my cougar and mustang.. i could finally go get my block honed for the pistons! ha

ice992
08-22-2008, 02:45 PM
asking 1400 on CL: Here (http://monroe.craigslist.org/cto/808049501.html)

$1239 is what I have into it... 1200? read the craigslist ad, I'll gladly help with the few things wrong...

Danef150
08-22-2008, 03:35 PM
i'd rather have a cougar :p nice find tho....There was one in the dallas area...Man if i lived where you lived id get in my truck with a trailer and pick that bad boy up....i allready have a perfectly good 2.5 i could swap right in it :( very sad

YOSLVR442
08-23-2008, 11:41 AM
i dont look at here for a couple days and all of a sudden its hopping like mad!!! dude that would be awesome if you lock up that coug. sorry but no stealth for me. ive got way too many projects as it is. good luck tho.

ice992
08-23-2008, 12:47 PM
oh you have missed much!!! I'm working on the deal to get me another coug... and I'm quite excited about it... and swampland is going to come alive again... I WILL IT SO!!!

YOSLVR442
08-23-2008, 06:24 PM
nice job!!

Danef150
08-23-2008, 09:28 PM
Sounds good ive missed having a swampland neco for a long time now....I mean when i first joined we actually had meets...So maybee we can get there again...

ice992
08-23-2008, 11:48 PM
If I get the coug, I'll have an excuse for getting more into it and the old lady cant nag... haha well, she can, and will, but thats not the point... the point is their are a lot of cougars running around this damn mosquito infested state, and we need to recruit!

Danef150
08-24-2008, 01:04 AM
Ive tried to recruit befor but for some reason even though they could find tons of good info and support on the site they all look at me like im a wierdo...

YOSLVR442
08-24-2008, 09:33 AM
Ive tried to recruit befor but for some reason even though they could find tons of good info and support on the site they all look at me like im a wierdo...

yep, i know that look!!

now with the possible chance of me getting mine back im more interested as well. we def. need to start haveing meets.

ice992
08-24-2008, 12:36 PM
I dont know where is the best place to have them, I'm in monroe, and we have a drag strip here

Danef150
08-24-2008, 12:53 PM
Most likely the best place for a meet is in Baton Rouge...They have 2 drag stips and plenty of things to do...Not to mention i believe its within an hour drive for most of our members...Just a thought....Not sure if there is somewhere more in the middle of the state with more to do and surrounded by more members. I guess we will have to actually try to get something organized or like 3-4 people who want to get togeather befor we worry about it too much

ice992
08-24-2008, 03:42 PM
lol dammit... 4.5 hr drive

c0alition
08-24-2008, 03:42 PM
yea.. i think baton rouge is probly gonna have the most stuff.. i mean the drive from BR is pretty empty until you either get 2 hours west or 2 hours north.. in between is pretty much empty huh?

ice992
08-24-2008, 03:44 PM
anyone have a house with property in baton rouge so that a mod meet would be sustainable?

c0alition
08-24-2008, 11:00 PM
You looking for a garage place or just a place with alot of room?

ice992
08-24-2008, 11:09 PM
either I guess... I mean wherever we could meet, have room for the vehicles and be able to work on **** if we wanted...

Like if ever anyone wanted to come up my way, my house I've got 3 acres, enough room to park like 10 cars, 2 car carport and a big shed (was built to be a garage but the tool who owned the house before me, closed half the doorway in, but thats another project lol)

c0alition
08-24-2008, 11:27 PM
yea.. i've got covered parking for 2 vehicles.. a few acres of land.. and a pretty big concrete driveway.. could probly get about 5 cars on the concrete or more if I HAD to.. ha but it's in walker.. about 25 minutes outside of baton rouge.. we'd just have to get a day so i can either let my parents know so they can go somewhere for a few days or somethign so there cars are out the way.. rofl..

ice992
08-24-2008, 11:33 PM
nice

c0alition
08-24-2008, 11:40 PM
man, it would be nice if i actually had some people that knew more about cars and i could get my cougar parts all put in ha! we should definately have a meet deal soon.. it would be really helpful for me ha

ice992
08-24-2008, 11:46 PM
what are you tryin to put in... I'm down to turn a wrench whenever...

c0alition
08-25-2008, 12:16 AM
i got cams, cam gears, timing belt, water pump, header, gotta go get the exhaust put on when i get the header.. and new pistons and rods.. I just have to get the focus head first so i can get everything else on.. or the focus engine..

ice992
08-25-2008, 12:23 AM
awww man you've got a 2.0?! lol well... I've never messed with them, but I'm game

c0alition
08-25-2008, 12:35 AM
yeppppp.. i have a 2.0 I think i'm the only one on here in LA that does.. but oh well ha. Atleast it should be pretty quick after i get parts in.

ice992
08-25-2008, 12:38 AM
i lol at you... you should just make the jump and do the serious swap, 2L to 3L lol

Danef150
08-25-2008, 12:40 AM
i wanna gut my pre cats....As for me ive deffinatly got the land...just no concrete lol 120 acres and not a slab in sight...Sad...But where i live would be a bad place for a meet...It would be nice to have the mod meet somewhere where these something to do..Thats why i was thinking BR...though Walker is very close and a nice place.

c0alition
08-25-2008, 12:45 AM
i mean really if we needed a big area we could just use the parking lot i work at .. me and my boss are tight like friends, race in the parking lot after work, chill play video games and stuff at the office.. so i'm sure he wouldn't care if we parked cars out there and messed with them.. but everyone would just have to load up tools to bring i guess.. which wouldn't be sooo bad.

Danef150
08-25-2008, 12:50 AM
I carry tools at all times...It comes in handy some times :) Though my tool set has went to crap recently...its still better than nothing .

ice992
08-25-2008, 12:54 AM
dude gutting precats... very easy... I don't know if i need to yet or not lol... I dont have the car yet... see the road trip thread guys and let me know!!

I don't have many tools anyway... most of mine are fairly easily brought along

c0alition
08-25-2008, 12:55 AM
yea well i'm about 99% sure the parking lot would be no problem at all.. i mean everyone else around doesn't complain about the random monitors we throw off the roof into the dumpster.. or the dumb stuff we do up front, so i'm sure us hanging out up there wouldn't be a prob either.

ice992
08-25-2008, 01:08 AM
good good... i like the way that sounds lol.... big parking lot?

c0alition
08-25-2008, 01:27 AM
yea.. pretty good size.. it's a strip mall type deal.. so yea it's pretty big.

Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=30.433499,-91.057997&spn=0.002294,0.003433&t=h&z=18)

that link went a little off center, but it's the parking lot just up and left of the map

YOSLVR442
08-25-2008, 05:43 PM
if i may chime in, i live in prairieville about 10 or so minutes outside br. i have a concrete driveway with a 30X30 shop. we could fit about 3-4 cars in the shop/concrete area in the back yard. i just have to move my 442 out of the way. ive got enough tools as well. so here is also an option.

c0alition
08-25-2008, 06:50 PM
covered area sounds nice! especially down here ha.. sounds good to me

Danef150
