I know wrapping the headers, and y-pipe/up-pipe will help improve spool up times.

What about wrapping the downpipe? I have some extra header wrap left over.

The pipes are already all ceramic coated, but according to Warmonger, when using ceramic coating + header wrap on the headers and up-pipe you can improve spool up times, by 500rpm or more. I just haven't heard (or read) anything about the downpipe.

this is a moot point now... I had enough header wrap to do the down pipe, as well as the split pipe that joins just before the exhaust, so I did the entire thing. I'm now ceramic coated and header wrapped from the heads to the flex pipe with a turbo and wastegate midway through.

even if it doesn't help the turbo, it will in the very least keep the temps down close to the transmission and oil pan...

I'm not worried so much about trapping moisture as the pipes were coated before being wrapped. I beleive the pipes themselves would wear out faster given that the stay hotter internally, but with the frequency of change my car gets, that's not much of an issue for me.

it would help the heat big time and that is what you want to do the heat that the turbo gives off will kill any intake temp. but if you can contain the heat than you can make more power but if you have extra use it / it will help
