Wondering if someone can help me out.
I have an MPV owner in the Albany area of NY, and I am wondering if there is a knowledgable mechanic that can be recommended for him to get his 2.5l duratec looked at.
The techs are scratching their heads at Mazda, so wondering if there is an experienced head that you know of that could have a look at his car.
Thanks in advance guys...

come on empire neco.
Thanks for the bump...I am starting to wonder if there is such a chapter as empire neco. Was raving how active the board was to my fellow mpv'ers. Bit surprised that there is no one in new york state, albany area that knows the duratec's like the back of his hand....

Well..whats wrong with his van?
I'm about 3 1/2 to 4 hours away from Albany.
I'm no professional, but I'm familiar with the 2.5L.
All my friends and family have me work on their cars. Also, my father builds motors for a living, and I'm about to have a 54'x 48' workshop with heated floors, and a lift finished at my house.
So, if he would be willing to make the drive I'd be willing to help him out.

Thanks for that matty,
basically it is making a definite clapping sound, which may well be tensioners from what we can make out. Just would be good to get someone to confirm it that is all.
Will let him know and will see where we go from here, but really appreciate your offer. I knew I could count on NECO, this is such a great forum.
Thanks

I am that MPV owner Ashley is talking about, thanks for your help. Below is the link I posted earlier with two sound tracks.

I have had the problem for over a year now, the car *seems* to be fine, but I am quite worried that if it's the timing chain, it could break at any moment and damage the engine beyond repair. Thanks again, Ashley and others.
