Just now starting to think about doing stuff to engine.
I want to know whats out there that will increase my horse power but also be cheap on my wallet for the time being. Anything anyone can help me with would be nice right now the money is kind of short seeing as the tranny is getting fixed and job is not in order yet.
but like i said anything that would help is welcome i will be glad to read on something that will increase this Zetec's horse power.

Look in the forums. Under Zetec 2.0 performance. Threads like this aren't necessary, answers are already there.

HP costs money. plain and simple. if it's cheap, it's probably garbage. you could start out with the basic intake and exhaust. but neither are particularly cheap. if your tranny is jacked, I say fix that first, then save. just know that unless you go F/I, the car will still be pretty slow. once you get past intake and exhaust, it only gets more expensive.
I see you are in GA as well. so am I. what part are you from?

check the zetec dyno mods comparison sticky, there you can see a lot of mods and the price per hp. If I remember correctly, stage 3 cams were the best and intake and thottle body were the worst($/hp wise)
also remember that a good diet can be just as helpful as adding mods! every pound out of the suspension/driveline will help some

 You are not right man.
When you say "thinking" of doing some engine stuff, what exactly do you want? I mean how far do you wanna take this?
Just like the swamy says, HP costs money and to do it right unless you know what your doing will cost some money.
Figure out what you want then research and ask questions.

alright regarding the whole look it up and then ask heres what i have to say.
Im suppose to get about $5,000 dollars out of the case we are trying to settle. so i guess the actual question is what should be done to this cougar in the engine with whats left after the body kit and the truebenz exhaust.
so in other words i believe with about
475-exhaust
625-body kit
so about $4,000 left what would ya'll do first???/

I would turbocharge it- first. You'll have power and be pretty unique. Go from there.

well the body kit won't help you go faster. if you truly have 5k u just wanna blow, then turbo it.

Send me the $4K so i can build you a turbo kit.:biggrin::biggrin: the stock internals are supposedly good to 300HP but i would keep it below 250 just to be safe. my kit makes 200WHP and 220WTQ on 10PSI. the turbo i use should be able to hit tthe 300BHP mark.

i build the kit and then ship everything to you to install it. you have to get it tuned and get the exhaust mated to whatever you already have as it will only come with the downpipe which stops after the flex pipe
If you really are interested in it PM and i can give you more details along with pics of my setup. The actual cost depends on the options but is around $3500. you can then get an Xcal2 and custom tune from warmonger.

alright looking further into this its still coming out to be 5,000 dollars but i went to a body shop and to get the bumper contrapaul drew will only cost me 250-300 so with that being said....
its
300-bumper
475-exhaust
3500- to turbo-zetec for my turbo
doing interior work with about 725 left over....
the back seats would go and i might try and see if yofavcracka can still make the back seat floor he made.....
so thats probly like somewhere around 200+shipping (miss calulations or so)
minus about 110+ shipping on a 6 cd changer on FS on Neco
so with 335 left im guessing this part
i could get 4 new speakers by Xplod plus an amp and about 2 subs for about that much and make myself a box unless i make a little more money for the Xplod speakers already in a box....

really i think that most of the "left over" money will be spent on the turbo. after u pay for the turbo kit, u still need to get a tuner and get the car tuned. to get that done right insn't cheap. also, i'd hold off on the exhaust kit until the turbo kit is built and installed. odds are that u're gonna have to cut and modify the exhaust to make it fit, so i'd wait and see if i could get a local exhaust shop to make a kit cheaper.

No,
you will need 3" + sized pipes and muffler and resonator for the exhaust, unless you can buy a 3" trubends kit....if you can i am sure it will be expensive then the standard 2 1/4" on

You can get by with just the 2.5" exhaust. its what i have right now. the downpipe is also 2.5". if i can fit a 3" downpipe then i will but its a really tight fit getting past the AC compressor.

trubenz sells a 3" pipe for borla that was the one i was planning on getting to get it a deeper sound

a 3" downpipe and exhaust is ideal but im currently running 2.5" piping with no issues. as i said before making a 3" pipe clear the AC compressor is going to be a very tight squeez but i think it can be done.

Dude...Where can you find a bodyshop that will install and paint your bodykit for less then $500? To throw my car on a trailer pay gas n tolls from NY to KY n back I'd come out ahead. The bodykit is gonna more then that to install and paint.
