i have an '01 cougar and i need to try to find a part for my headlight. i replaced the stock low beam bulbs with new ones, and evidentially it wasn't plugged in well enough or something, cause it melted part of the bulb and the plug. i need to see if anyone has a plug that i can buy. it would be the part that you actually plug the low beam bulb into. i tried to go to a ford dealership, but they didn't have the part and tried to get me to buy something that i didn't think would work. they didn't seem to know much at the particular place i went to though. if i cant find a used one, i would also appreciate it if someone would point to in the direction of a place where i could buy one. thanx alot guys. you can contact me on here, or at Hojo2229@hotmail.com

Autozone has headlight electrical pigtails believe it or not. Just find one for a 9006 and get new bulbs. The ones you had in there were too high wattage, which is why you melted the plug.

thats what i thought too (about the wattage that is), but when i checked the bulbs what were in the car when i got it, they were 51 watts. the ones that i put in there are rated at 55 watts. at 12VDC that is only like 1/3 of an amp difference. i cant see how that would make much of a difference, which is why i started trying to come up with other reasons for why it may have melted. the headlight on the other side is fine, and i haven't had any problems, so i dunno whats going on.
