... so I thought I'd tell you guys about it. I bought it primarily to make sure I get through a Cleveland Winter... and also for trip back to Chicago in the winter... and because a baby seat wasn't fitting in the back of the Cougar.
I'll take a better picture later... it's raining in Cleveland right now.

It has a surprisingly sporty feel driving it... I expected a springy numb ride like every other SUV I've driven... but this has every bit of road feel the cougar does without being quite as jarring.
So... I started looking at mod options... damn it's a lot more expensive than the Cougar was... I want that Borla exhaust though... I may have to start saving up.

Well . . . its no Lincoln MKZ . . . if you got a good deal on it and you like it, thats all that really matters, and I'm happy for you. I just personally hate SUV's.

Congrats on the car.... I want a RIDE!!! :)
I bet you got that SUV so you can lug lots of little kids and their toys around. :) You can get a bike rack now on the trailer hitch! :)
Are you completing against your snotty neighbor? (Reagan's neighbor has a hummer and they were rude to me and my friend when we came to visit!)

It took 12 posts to ask about the Cougar!
I figured that would be post #2.
The Cougar is snug as a rug in the Garage that Hummer is in front of. I'm not so crazy as to ever trade it in. Though the damn tranny seems to be thinking of going out again...
I'm not so worried about the gas fill ups since it won't be a daily driver. And even if it is, Jen and I car pool to work so we only take one vehicle anyway. And the Gas Mileage on it isn't any worse than any large SUV. It'll cost about $30 more a trip to drive it back to Chicago assuming $3 gas.

oh yeah, and Heather... that guy with the H2 has moved out. In fact, Jen and I got his garage... so now she parks the Mazda in that garage. I didn't want to make the pregnant lady shovel snow off her car if I wasn't around.

I know. :( I still look at MKZ's and think of what could have been. However, I decided against the Lincoln since I figured kids and leather seats were not meant to go together. Further Ford took away all the financing incentives for the MKZ and even with the financing it would have been on the expensive side.
I figure it was too early for the luxury car anyway... I think the timeline of how people get cars goes like this:
Junker (Chevette) - Econobox (Escort) - Inexpensive Sporty Car (Cougar) - Soccer-Dad SUV (HUMMER) - Beaters (for when I'm poor with more kids) - Mid-life Crisis (Corvette - when I'm 55 and the kids move out) - Luxury (when I'm 60 and the Corvette hurts my back).
There are other branches of that time line though... for instance after the inexpensive sporty car and before the Kids car there may come "Muscle Car" (Brian and his GTO, Nick and his Mustang for instance)... but I'm on a truncated time line due to the arrival of a kid.

Actually the 08 Forester Sports 2.5 XT would have been killer for ya... AWD Turbo baby! nothing handles like a Subie and the Turbocharged Boxter engine rocks!

How old is the baby that it won't fit in the cougar? My daughter was able to get in the car seat when she was around 8 months (forward facing car seat that is). I found that the ones made for multiple stages like the Eddie Bauer's wouldn't fit worth a damn because they made the bases so big, but the ones made with a smaller base like the Grayco, or even the Evenflo ones fit perfectly.
Irregardless, congrads on the Hummer.
I've fit both my cousins kids in the back seat of the cougar in child seats. One in a baby seat, the other in a racing car seat. I still had room to put a drink in the cup holder in the middle.

I know. :) Subie definitely has the market on sporty fast... but I just don't think it was for me.
Really, I've always wanted a Jeep or an old-school Hummer. In fact, when I bought the Cougar I was also looking at a Wrangler and had the Jeep salesmen not pissed me off... I may have bought it instead of the Cougar.
and I looked at Jeeps again now... but the Wrangler was out of the question because of the baby coming (and it had worse gas mileage than the Hummer anyway)... and I looked at the Commander and the Compass. The Compass was incredibly small on the inside... and performed horribly.
So... while the H3 has a bad rap of being a Hummer... it really was a lot nicer than the Jeeps.
And the ride is pretty nice... you don't feel super high... until I get back in the Cougar or the Mazda and then you feel really low.
