I'm headed to the Farm this weekend to do a bit of work on my Daily Driver and hopfully the other car. If anyone is interested you're welcome. My main goal is to gut my pre-cats and then we'll see about getting the other car at least started since i haven't accomplished that yet.

If anyone is interested let me know.

Ill try to head up with you. i just gotta becareful cause my clutch is like gone and if i get one ticket im done for (litterally). 1 Year driving probation, 1300$ fine, 24 hour community service, Defensive driving. For doing 100 mph in a 55 zone. Wasnt worth it. im lucky i wasnt arrested and they didnt know it was a construction zone.

I got headers on the way so it would be good to help you with it and learn some things for myself.

Seriously...... It will be a learning experience for me for sure but I don't have many weekends left before it's time for me to go to FL and fix the other Cougar in a weekend, I need practice.

I did end up gutting my precats on Sunday. I think the best part was driling the hole in the front one and using a hi speed drill with a modified welding rod to absolutely destroy all that resided inside the precat. I'll post up a few pics in a day or two.

I've noticed there is a definite difference in sound now that I have them gutted and the homemade eliminators seem to be working just fine so far.

Doing any car work this week(end)?

This is actually one of the weekends I will not be working on either of them. However, I will be up there the weekend of the 1st because my gf is having a craft weekend..... and there's no way I'm participating.

I know Anthony (s/n Edward) got his new Headers in today so I'm sure he'll be wanting to put those in some time soon.

I still need to get the other car started and start selling off some of the parts I'm not going to use. I just haven't had much time to get up there and do some real work.

So the beat way to gut out the cats is...? I need to destroy mine, I've got a CEL regarding the cats, so the engine is running lean, makes the car go blah, you know the story. Should I take the headers off or just detach the Y-pipe? On you photos you had them off of the car.

Edit- This is my DD car and I can go no more than a day without driving it... 1 day job right?

This (http://ironchefbadass.com/%7Emysites/cougar/howto/precats/) is the How-to I used and it worked well. I did it on my DD and it took a few hours. I didn't have a a lift so the car was up on jacks. I took off the y-pipe and the front manifold but left the rear on. You could do it with the front one on but it would be more difficult.

I used a welding rod I bent into a crazy shape, stuck it in the hole I drilled and just let it rip with my drill. It destroyed all the crap that was in there and then I shook it out. Make sure you get absolutely everything out or it could clog your main cat (if you still have it). Make sure you have a 13mm socket to take the front cat off and I believe a 15mm for the exhaust bolts. For one thing that will save the bolts and your hands, make sure you have some PB Blaster one hand, especially if you've never had the parts separated before.

**Have you ever partaken in the Bourbon Trail? I did it with a friend last Dec and we're going to up and do it again at some point.
