I'm trying to be good but I can't . . . I'm just gonna say this, no matter who crosses the finish line first, I'm pretty sure you both lose.

Does your Hyundai or his Hyundia have 295 HP?
You both lose

Hyundai's aren't bad people! The Sonata would probably win though.

Unless the Sonata has been dyno'd, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have 295 hp...

copied from wikipedia -
The new Sonata featured the all-aluminum, DOHC 2.7 L Hyundai Delta V6 powered it with 173 hp. It also featured the same Sirius II 4 cylinder which at the time made 149 hp (111 kW), 157 lbf·ft (213 N·m) of torque. Sales reached 104,000 for 2004.
your friend needs to be slapped... but ofcourse im guessing he thinks an exhaust gives him 20 hp?

I think your "friend" is pulling your leg and doesn't have near that amount of horsepower. Unless he has stickers...

Tell him he's modding a Sonata. He's already lost.

One question, How arent they made for racing? When all of these "Import" cars like civics and 240sx's are bad ass street racing cars.. I mean yeah their more of a DD unless you mod them.

Civics are not Bad Ass Street Cars. Cougar's can be made into race cars, but they were never intended to race.

Here's some examples of cars made for racing... Carrera GT, Viper, Corvette, Zonda, etc.
Here's some examples of cars made to get you from point A to B... Cougar, Sonata, Civic, Cavalier, Grand Prix, etc.
Any more clarification needed?

Did he specify the year and trim of the Sonata and I missed it? I mean, not that it matters, but the '06 Sonata LX or a loaded GLS would have a 3.3L V6 that puts out 235hp, unless what I'm reading is inaccurate. No, the intake/exhaust/chip isn't going to push that to 295hp, but still...

the new sonata is fun to drive, and somewhat impressive power. It in fact does have 235 horses under the hood. but styling is rather bland. and its a hyundai.

Hmmm... im gotta go with the sonata that's got the Flux capacitor straped to its rear.....
ahem, yessum.. ill choose the sonata, Because of the question asked.
If your asking who would win in a race, and you cant figure it out urself by what the othercar is/ looking at it.... Dont race..:disgust:

The Sonata will destroy you. Its not even going to be a race. This is going to be a brutal slaughter of epic automotive proportions. Your Cougar's fate now rests in the hands of a Korean. Prepare to meet your doom.

Alrighty, Seem's I need to chime in right about now.
Yeah, I'll agree straight from factory Civic, Cougar, etc Are not meant for racing.
However, With the right modifications they are.

:disgust: easy slick i think i lost a few point on that one too.
Cougars and Civics are not for racing... at all. One could make a minivan fast... still wouldn't make it meant for racing.
sure you can race a civic but that doesn't make it a "Racing" civic

The sonata can have 300+hp, I dont know how well its tranny can hold but take a look at these NGM House of Power (http://ngmhouseofpower.com/). It stocks the same engine as the new tibbys ;) you can make that into one fast grocery getter.
