View Full Version : engine valley water pipe install - help

I have to put a new water pipe in the engine valley. This is the pipe that is sticking straight up in the valley near the rear of the engine, and a hose comes off this with a sharp nearly 180* elbow, and into the water pump...

I assume it is installed with locktite. Should I use blue or red loctite? When I install it, should I just bang it in with a rubber mallet or block of wood and hammer?

This is normally pressed in at a machine shop on a hydraulic press. If it has been pulled, use only a new replacement as it deforms when being pressed in. I would use Red loctite to be safe, although, if it's pressed in (not hammered), no sealer should be required.

use a small block of wood between the mallet and the pipe ;)
