It's generally thought of as a bad idea to replace the harmonic balancer with an aftermarket crank pulley. For one the power you gain will be minuscule and two the stock pulley dampens vibrations on the end of the crank so this could lead to premature engine failure.

I have heard that ASP and Unorthodox make aftermarket crank pulleys and I've never heard of anyone having an issue with them. I'd say they sent you the wrong pulley.

I bet you received a 4cyl pulley.

just for clarification, the ASP is an undersized pulley where the unorthodox is just a hair smaller than stock but is lightened.

Hi everyone..Ok for a few days now i,ve been talking back and fourth to ASp..They say the pulley i got is the correct one..I say B.S...There is no way this thing will fit...And if it did what would stop it from hitting the front timing cover...So my question is...Does the 2.5 duratec pulley fit the 3.0L..And is it at all possible someone could post a pic of one for me....

Thanks Jeff

When 3Ls are installed in Contours/Cougars, we reuse the 2.5L front cover.

The pulley on the 2.5L will work on the 3L so that won't be an issue. The pulley should have a snout end that slips into the timing cover and when it is on all the way it will but up to the timing gear just behind the cover which keeps it from bottoming out on the outside of the cover.

Thanks for all the help guys...ASP stills says the pulley they sent me is the right one...Buts doing my own searches reveiled the pulley is for a 2.0L ford engine...And there tech says the 2.5l Duratech pulley won,t work...I think i,ve had enough of them..Maybe just pack in the whole idea...To bad really..There are so few upgrade parts for the 3.0l engine...As far as i,ve seen..

Thanks all....

pretty much any performance upgrade that will fit on the 2.5 will fit and work correctly on a 3.0. thats partially whats so cool about the swap. from the outside with a 2.5 intake its almost impossible to tell that the engine isnt the original engine.
