Feel like a road trip?

I have a 99 MTX 2.5 Cougar sitting and waiting for me to pick up. It has to be hauled back though. I had a guy that said he was willing to take me and I was gonna buy meals and gas. Its 7.5 hours from my house according to Yahoo. In Essex MD.

If you're interested in a road trip on the 20th and you would want some free meals let me know. LOL

I fiuger pretty much anybody with a hauler would be able to tow it, just the issue of finding somebody with a hauler and thats willing to make the drive.

K thats all. Oh and I'll be parting it out also.

Sorry mang, i'd help you out but i've never towed anything before.

I would like to know about the car your parting out, though. For instance how much of it are you going to part out, and does it have a return or returnless fuel system?

Im keeping the body, Engine, tranny and instrument cluster

Headlights, are both damaged.

Tailights are good, door and rear windows are good. Windshield is cracked.

all the interior is getting gutted, doorpanels, headliner, Moonroof entire assembly is coming out and being replaced with sheet metal. Basically the car is getting stripped except bare necessities to be a race car.

I am keeping the exhaust and putting it on my 2000 cougar though LOL. I have stupid ricer fart can so I can go back to factory exhaust now.

If the seats are better in the car I'm buying than from what I have I'm going to swap seats. They said the ones in the manual are full power. If thats the case I'll be switching. I also have the stock radio. I am keeping one AC vent hooked up to use during summer races under caution.

Basically if theres something you thing you might need just let me know and if I dont need it. I'll be willing to sell. I have to part it out to try to recover some of my money to pay for a hauler before next april. LOL

Oh its a 99 cougar 2.5 MTX

What color is it? It its black, I wouldnt mind the driver side door if its in good shape. Or the hatch. BTW, I have a stock exhaust laying around. Didnt know you need one. If its has good tires and rims I wouldnt mind those either. I need tires really really soon!

I would loan you my Bronco, but I haven't had it long enough to determine if its up to that big of a task.

Darn...i was hoping it had a return style fuel system and you were parting everything out. I need the wiring harness for the transaxle/engine.

Oh I need the tires, race rims are illegal in the division I'll be racing in. Its a white one. I dont think I'll need the hatch. I have to do some calling around and amke sure but I'm 99% certain I dont have to have the hatch cause all the glass has to come out anyway.

I don't really "need" a new exhaust, I just hate the stupid can on my exhaust right now. After I get it saturday I'll be ripping it apart and I
ll post pics of all the stuff I'll have to get rid of.

I did finally get a confirmation so I will definitly be getting it on the 20th.

After Ohio Neco goes through the list I'll list for everybody. I'm really hoping to get most of sold through local pickup.

Well, I just f'ed the front splash guard on my cougar this evening, so if that is in good shape and you don't need it I would be happy to take that off your hands.

i wouldn't mind a driver side front inner fender. the screws came out of mine and it rubbed on my wheel, so now i got a worn out hole in it. looks pretty bad.

Got the ride all lined up. I'm gettin excited, just lookin forward to doing hte stripping of the car. Something I have always wanted to do.. no clue why, just see what its like to take everything out. when I'm all done I'll take pic of the junk I'm gonna be gettin rid of.

And aweseom thing. the people are throwing in an extra set of stock cougar rims. 2 of hte original ones were busted in the wreck and they had an extra set. I was wondering where I was gonna get 2 or 4 rims for back up tires in case of flats.

With Ohio roads, I think you'll need those two extra rims.

I's interested in the seats if you do not swap them, pending pics, and if you do swap them, I'd be interested in yours (both front and back)

Umm this car will never see ohio roads once I become the owner. It will see a 3/10th mile race track though... and rims are the last thing I'm worried about breaking. LOL

Shadybowl Speedway (http://www.shadybowl.com)

New compact racer, be my rookie year and I'll be in the newest car on the track.

prelude, civics and probes win on a regular basis right now. Hopefully I can change that. I bought a wrecked v-6 MTX and am picking it up in MD on the 20th. the stripping starts that week.
the airbags got deployed so the ins totaled it out.

so what can you do to the cars? power adders? or stock motor? and if stock motor can you run a factory turbo'd car? awd allowed?

looks kinda fun just wonderin what stops a awd turbo'd talon from winnin all the time lol

Well...
1. Any American or Foreign passenger car 4 or 6-cylinder (no trucks). Front-wheel drive ONLY. NO Rotary engines. NO Turbos.
I would assume that a Talon is a compact, and that ^^^^ is rule number one in the compact class :) I didn't read enough to know if it'd fall into another class or not.

aw that sucks lol talon would dominate...... so i guess its basically builing a n/a motor and gettin weight down.... also having a good driver helps.....

Talon would dominate for a couple of laps, until it breaks.

no AWD car would fit in any class. COmpacts is the only FWD class.

THere is a Pro-4(4bangers RWD)
Street Stock(RWD V-8, with 6-10K dollar engine, nothing stock about any of the cars LOL)
Emod- RWD Open Wheel
Dwarf, RWD clown cars with Motorcycle engines
Late Model-like street stock but newer model cars, slightly different rules and more expensive engines.

LOL, it's true! Think about it - the ONLY kind of racing anyone ever does with a DSM is quarter-mile drag racing, where, granted, it excels. But have you ever seen a DSM built for any kind of road racing or endurance racing? I say thee NAY. That's because it's only good for 10-14 seconds at a time. The mid-range isn't that good, and you can't flog those turbo motors for a long time without something breaking.

On a circle track, where everybody has a rolling start anyway and launch isn't the key, the DSM would be a HUGE BOAT ANCHOR. Just keep it on the drag strip.

DSM's are a one-trick pony. Hugely overrated for anything but straight-line pull.
