tomorrow i'm getting into swapping out my steering wheel with an aftermarket wheel. i've got the focus hub and have seen that it has to be modified. for those that have done this, what has to be modified? the hub or the plastic ring? i've searched and saw some say both. also, how do i hook the horn up? and i saw in my searching that i should put some resistor in the airbag plug to turn off the light. who has the specs on that resistor? thanks guys

crispy may be nice enough to respond if you ask her, as she did this.
the air bad resistor was a reference to me I'm assuming. I posted the value like 3 years ago, dont remember it for the life of me, your going to have to do alot of searching for that. Although for some reason 670ohms is sticking in my mind.

after a little more searching, i found this. (http://excelcier.com/Airbag.doc) apparently it's a 2.5 ohm resistor. also, when i got the momo hub, it came with what looks like a resistor to plug into the airbag harness. for those that have the momo hub, is that what it is?

ok, well i took off the stock wheel and measured it up. from the looks of it there's a bunch of grinding needed. also, on the sotck wheel there's a key on the outside of the "hub" that sits inside the plastic ring in the column. my thoughts is that is for the automatic off for the turn signal. i'd like to have that feature, just cuz i like the idea of everything working as it did from the factory, just with a different look. so i measured up the momo hub and the stock wheel "hub" and made a CAD drawing of it. i'm giving it to one of the guys in our shop so if he's got some free time tomorrow, he can mill down the momo hub with the key in it.
i also played w/ the wiring for the horn at lunch today and figured out how to wire that up.
once i get the hub cut down, i'm gonna instal this and take some pics for a how-to. if i can get the right dimensions and program one of our cnc mills, i'll be able to help people out w/ this that want the auto off turn signals. i'm also gonna play around w/ the cruise buttons later and design a hub that will be a complete bolt-on hub that lets u bolt on an aftermarket wheel and still have all the stock features including the auto off turn signals, horn, and cruise buttons.
i'll keep everyone posted on my progress
