This is a how-to to fixing you dirty scratched headlights. I searched on this and couldn't find any helpful pics, so hopefully this helps.

What you'll need:
Some kind of foam applicator for the polish
I used PLastix (meguiars) plastic cleaner and polish
2000 and/or 2500 grit sand wet sandpaper

Start by sanding with 2000grit wet sandpaper (w/ water:crazy:)
It should look something like this afterwords.

Next apply your polish, i let it sit for a minute to penetrate. Then wipped away with a clean rag. I did this about 3 times to get all the sctraches finally out.
After a few times it should look like this.

All you have to do now if do the other side
Finished pics.

There isn't really a starting pic but there were pretty much as bad as after the 2000 grit, i could barley see a thing, you can see in my sig pic how bad they were.

So, Wet sanding is using sand paper with water? Is the sand paper that you used meant for wet sanding or do you just use any 2000 grit sand paper? Will the scratches be permanent?

Use the platix first, dont use the sandpaper, if you need to sand then use wet sandpaper (black) put it in water and sand. Mine were that bad were they needed sanding, some may not, use the platix first if it doesn't work out then use the paper.

Would it be better to get 2500 grit black sand paper and wet sand with that instead of the 2000 grit? Just to make sure that it doesnt leave scratches that wont come out? And should I sand in circular motions instead?

Start off with 2000 wet sandpaper (you have to use water with wet paper) then move to a 2500 ( i didn't use 2500 and it was fine). Put the plastx on let sit for a minute ( when you put it on rub it in good) then wipe clean, i did it about 3 times with the plastix til most of the scrates came out.

^^The only way if its in the inside if your light is cracked or you went through 4 feet of water were it enter the rear of the light. (They have holes to let out mosture and heat)

if you wanted to, you could start off with 1000 and work your way up by 500.

my headlights were disasterous and one had a spill on it from the shop that stained it:mad:.

Frist i went with just Plastx and it worked great, but there was still this clear film and the stain.

So i took a 1500 grit sandpaper and wet sanded them. This took out the stain, the film, and made the rock pits less noticable.

Then i did a coat of Plastx which looked pretty good on one coat. i ended up doing 4 and worked each coat in till the plastx was almost dry then i would wipe it of with a terry cloth just like waxing.

now my headlights are fantastic:biggrin:

my advice is go with meguiars plastx and if not happy with just that wet sand with 1500 or 2000 grit and reapply the plastx as needed.

From an angle my headlights have that yellow film. I think I'm gonna try this with 1500 grit sandpaper and this PLASTX stuff. Hopefully I don't ruin my headlights. :(. And I'm assuming the lower the grit the less grity the sandpaper is?

if your saying that a 1500 grit paper is less coarse then 2000..... then you've got it backwards. a higher grit count is the finer paper

I used 2000 grit on mine (they were pretty bad) with the polish and it made a big difference

no problem;) even if you start with a more coarse sandpaper you can always move up to the finer paper to remove the scratches, as long as you put in the time and pay attention to what your doing you wont ruin the headlights. i prolly spent bout an hour and a half on mine.

Where could I find single sheet of sandpaper, with 2000 or 2500 grit?

They are usually sold for 50-sheet pack.
