There are a few for sale in the Vehicles section. And why is this in the WTB section if you are going to look at one already? Isn't this section for people trying to find a vehicle, not for people that have already found one?

srt-4's=over rated, if you don't the like the interior's of the cobalt look at ion redlines. i see them all the time between 10-15k with warranty's left on them, and with the plethra of gm performance parts you could walk on srt-4's all day long.

over rated?!? Forged motor, strong transmission, fun to drive, lsd, great aftermarket, etc, etc.......Please tell me how it's over rated:rolleyes: all people seem to come up with is, "the interior sucks."

micah, your commenting on the srt-4 with the only thing people coming up with is "the interior sucks", correct? just making sure i read your post correctly.
i think they're overrated bc i've yet to get beat by one, but then it could just have been the tools driving them so that's not really a fair reason. also, the majority of the guys on the redline forum are walking all over them with dropping only around $300. i've had a few friends that ended up selling them or trading them in bc they were having to take them in quite a bit for boost leaks, exhaust problems, and ecu issues. also, i see them as being over rated bc they were produced during the time chrysler was getting into trouble for their cars needing major maintenance at low mileage intervals. lasty, when i went looking for cars and was debating between the cobalt ss s/c, ion redline s/c, and srt-4's i talked to a few different mechanics for dodge and all of them told me not even to bother. all of those reasons are why i consider them over rated. they were one of the fastest cars for the cheapest price, that was dodge's whole intention with them. they weren't built to last.

Because you've yet to be beaten by one:rofl: I know of 3 or 4 local guys here that will take care of that problem. Seriously dude.....there's always something faster.
So out of the 25000 units sold in less than 3 years you know of a few people that have had issues. Sorry, not enough to consider them over rated.
Guys walking them spending only 300 bucks?? 300 bucks for what mod and what mods did the srt4 have?
Boost leaks? Did someone put something on it? Change out an IC pipe or bov perhaps. I find it hard to believe that it just happened.
I find your reasons lacking and absurd. Evo's can be made faster than STi's with fewer mods. Granted subaru has come around with the 07's but that's besides the point. It doesn't make the car over rated. Especially not in this case when an srt4 with low miles and decent mods can be had for the prices you listed. Hell, there's one with tons of mods on this very board...16k. Probably still has a warrenty due to the fact that the performance parts came straight from the factory's performance division. Another lovely thing about the srt4.
My main point is that it's cheap, fun, and quick. Those 3 things make it worth every penny. Note that I'm not saying anything bad about the redline or cobalt. All 3 IMO are well worth getting.

I've heard that Redline's show 215whp, myth? I would say that an SRT-4 can out run almost any 2.5 cougar, without question.

that is no myth, some have dynoed as high as 220whp completely stock. GM under rated them for a variety of reasons. there was a method to their madness at rating them 205+hp.

Stock srt4's put 235whp and about 260wtq.
Here's a stock one putting down 222whp/245tq----> YouTube - My Srt 4 running on dyno stock 222hp 245tq (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQWqF4JKki0)
Again, not saying one is faster than the other. But none are over rated......

Micah, calm down dude. geeze.
Because you've yet to be beaten by one:rofl: I know of 3 or 4 local guys here that will take care of that problem. Seriously dude.....there's always something faster.
I even stated that it was probably due to the tools driving them therefore it not being a true statement. It wasn't meant to be taking seriously.

A few personal people yes, not every one i know ran out to buy the latest craze. I wasn't refering to just them, I was also refering to dodge mechanics even telling me not to mess with them. I haven't read the greatest things about them online either, but the same could be said about the cougar
Guys walking them spending only 300 bucks?? 300 bucks for what mod and what mods did the srt4 have?
K&N intake and/or 3.xx" pulley, not sure of srt-4's mods.
Boost leaks? Did someone put something on it? Change out an IC pipe or bov perhaps. I find it hard to believe that it just happened.
The guys I knew that had them didn't touch them. Maybe they drove them too hard or something, idk.

I'm not debating they can't be had for the same price ranges. Performance parts under warranty kicks ass, GM has TONS of them so I know how that goes. The fact you find my statements "lacking and absurd", well idk what to say to that bc I wasn't expecting someone to get soo worked up by me not thinking skittles are soo great. I wasn't attempting to come across as an srt-4 expert, i just think they're over rated. I see tons of people put them on a pedestal, and it seems rediculous to me. I know my redline isn't the fastest thing out there and i won't try and say it is, the comment on not being beat by srt-4's was meant to be taken lightly as I clearly stated it could be from their driver's being tools. I see srt-4 guys all the time trash talking thinking their cars are the fastest things ever, something will always be faster. If you think I'm lacking or absurd based on my experiences, forgive me for giving someone an opinion of the car that doesn't state how great it is. For me, the fact that authorized dodge mechanics wouldn't even recommend them was enough for me to avoid them.
My main point is that it's cheap, fun, and quick. Those 3 things make it worth every penny. Note that I'm not saying anything bad about the redline or cobalt. All 3 IMO are well worth getting.
If all someone is looking for is cheap, fun, and quick...then the srt-4 is a great choice. However i was looking for those three things along with reliability and I coudln't find that in the srt-4 during my quest.

I will agree.....lots of tools drive em, no doubt. But their are tools everywhere. I've been fortunate enough to meet some nice srt owners. One of which only gave his up for an 04 cobra. I'd give up my wrx in a sec for one of those, let be honest:rofl: But otherwise he enjoyed it. Hell, I enjoyed it.....I drove it quite a few times.
But again, my point.......srt, redline, and cobalt all share the title of best bang for the buck. Not talking reliablity because GM has their share of issues just like Dodge. But picking one of those is like trying to decide which shirt you're going to wear.....the red one or the blue one, hummmm. You can't really go wrong with either.

hokay, just checking dude bc i remember how laid back you were at fest and you seemed like a pretty cool guy ;) . I will agree srt-4, cobalt, or redline, they're all a good bang for the buck in terms of cheap quick cars. It's just that the amount of people who put the srt-4's on a pedastal drive me nuts and hopefully thecoug88 doesn't buy one off of people doing that. I LOVE my redline, however given the oppurtunity I'd give it up in a second to get my hads on a Cobra

A good way to tell.....if I'm really truly angry. I will not post a reply. I'll just sign off and beat my head against the wall. Otherwise, I'll give you a hug and hump your leg if you need it:rofl:
Yeah, I kinda sit in the middle with this car. It's not the greatest thing ever and yet it's not AT ALL like it's little brother. The few redline guys I've seen around here are pretty cool. One prick but what can you do....that's not so bad actually. There are more asshats running around in STi's with 30 day tags. Two of em walked up to some of our local guys and just started talking s#it:rolleyes: I wish more people would just have fun with the car they love and stop taking themselves so seriously.

SRT-4s are like everything, with the right mods can be made fast. I've been outraced by a couple from a roll but they lack traction from a dig, well, I have an advantage with AWD. I wouldn't say its overrated, but what I don't like its the fact that its still a Neon. Never liked them style wise.
Also, there are asshats driving anything. I was in my STi last week at the movies and a guy in a Caliber starting talking crap about how he can run against me and beat me. I get that a lot from SRT-4s too, not to mention Hondas. I'm so used to it that I just agree to make them feel good and then leave.
To each their own, if that's what you want, get it. I got that a lot when I went searching for my car. The Evo was overrated and the STi was overrated, so at the end, its your decision that counts.

Is the OP still looking for an srt4? I got mine up in the FS section, in wisconsin.
Lots of misinformation in here geez..
Srts's are actually pretty damn reliable all things considered. Boost leaks happen, upgraded clamps on the charge pipes fixes that. Other than that, thats about it.
A few people had problems with transmissions, but i suspect that to be because of misuse.
Also, srt4 stock runs 14.0-14.1@100-102 in the 1/4 mile with a decent driver.
