Hey guys and gals...

Just wondering if any of you have looked into light covers for your coug'? And if so did you find out with they were even legal?

Obviously at night, they wouldn't be, but during the day???

Thanks!

It depends what city you are in... i got a $100 ticket just outside my city but the police in Windsor don't care during the day or night. You'll have to go to the police station and question it.
It also depends on the officer who pulls you over!!!!

its illegal to have license plate covers, i have had mine for 5 years and pulled over numerous times. not one question about it.
its matter of the person, they are illegal (from what i was told in the past) but im refering the to full covered tinted ones, the other ones that go around the light buld are legal however because they do not interfere

yah i dont understnad it because my plate is fully visible from all directions with this still so i dont get hwy they can be an issue other then the possibility of having a fake printout license plate on the rear and using the cover to mask it better

Its considered an 'A-hole' ticket. If the cop pulls you over and says something about it, and you start showing the slightest bit of lip he gonna bust you for it.

I got pulled over in May for have smoke tinted plate covers. Cop wrote me a ticket, but said to take it to court and he'll drop the charges if I produce the covers in the court room showing that I have removed them.

Kinda pointless to have me do that but its better then $110.

I never understood why people put plate covers on in the first place... I would think that body color tail covers would be hard for the cop to notice, since the cobalt has the same kind of look...

I use the plate covers because I have personalised plates and I want to protect them. They cost over $200. If they were standard issue plates ($20) I prolly wouldn't bother.

Clear plate covers are perfectly legal, its anything other then clear. I had smoke because they went well with a black car.

I only give them lip after I have the ticket or after the JP has entered a verdict. Like after this trial I'm gonna go on a rant.

I will raise the point that the officer has made a complete mockery of our court system. What was the point in charging me if:

1)He's going to drop the charges at court anyhow.

2) All that is accomplished is he gets tons of O.T. and court pay.

3)The city incurres all kinds of court fee's

4)I lose a days pay, and thus a loss of tax revenue for the government (which btw would be more then the $110 fine).

5)Someone who prolly had a much more serious charge then me (perhaps impaired driving) might now have their ticket thrown out, due to his right of trial within a reasonable amount of time. All because I was advised to file for court by the cop.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I think the cop will prolly get a good tongue lashing from the J.P. after that. Not to mention I will have made an enemy of that cop for life.

Actually, both kinds of tail light covers arem illegal for our cars.

1)The Blackout covers are illegal because they dim the lights below the leagal candle power.

2)The regular tail light covers that leave the "boobs" exposed are illegal because they cover a reflector in the tail light. Although 99% of cops won't know there are refectors there being covered nor would they even think about it if they pulled you over, but they are in fact illegal.
