First is this an interference engine? I am looking at one that the timing belt is off of (I didn't pull it so I dont' know if it was pulled or broke) and just want to make sure if ti broke that the thing isn't going to be shot completely.

Also how hard is it to retime and put the belt back on this thing?

there is some debate as to weather or not they are interference engines or not. most shops will tell you that they are but most of CEG will say that they arent. IMHO they are non-interference engines. now the VCT MAY change that but i dont think so.

there is a how to here on CEG (http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=107) for setting the timing on a 98+ zetec with VCT.

my timing built broke and the new one jumped timing and i had nothing bad to show for it, so i'm gonna say theyre non interference. as for putting on a new built, it seems rather easy going by a chilton manual.
