I don't recall seeing the following answered before:

Most of the sensors are swapped over from the 2.5L engine. The only ones I kept from the 3.0 are the EGR, the TPS (to go with my 3L TB) the IACV (to go with my 3L UIM), and possibly the DPFE (I can't recall). As for the IACV, I don't think the 2.5 IACV will mount to the 3.0 UIM, but I'm wondering whether or not the 2.5 EGR and/or DPFE should be used.

The 2.5L IACV will not fit on a 3L intake. If you had a ported build you'd stick with the 2.5L IACV. The DPFE from each are the same. A newer plastic version of the DPFE came out which will be on the 01+ 3L's and it's the same DPFE that is sold by the dealers for the 2.5L's. As for the EGR you can't use the 2.5L EGR with a 3L upper intake. Stick with the 3L EGR.

Gary: We kept the 2.5L DPFE, 3.0L everything else.

say, what about the PCV? should that be 2.5 or 3.0? also, i read somewhere that the PCV must be positioned vertically, but we relocated it such that it sits horizontally. thoughts?

I've seen those placed both ways- For example, there was a sleeve-fit PCV valve in my wife's old minivan that sat dead horizontal. It's mostly vacuum that operates the thing. I've done two other 3Ls with that setup for the PCV, one with an in-line oil/air separator (which may also be a good idea for you).

The plastic tube that plugs into the oil separator on the block is the PCV on the 3L's. It doesn't matter which one you use as long as all the intake ports are plugged up and you don't have an intake leak.

The PCV valves between 2.5L and 3L are basically the same. Same part number on the replacements I've ordered anyway. As long as it is working and sealing reasonably well with back pressure then you are good.
