Alright, after finally installing my 2nd 3L into my car b/c the timing was setup wrong the first time causing a valves to get sheered off and one punctured a piston head.:(

I have now run into an issue. The car will turn over properly however it will not run. It seems like the timing is still off, however I did a compression test and got 76 across the board and it just seems like the car for some reason is not firing in the proper order.

I double checked the spark plugs and made sure they were in the correct firing order and i have a brand new coil pack in the car.

The car is throwing no codes either.

So my question is does anyone have a guess to wtf is wrong?

Getting fuel at the fuel rail?

I would double check all your connections, along with the spark plugs and coil pack just to make sure. Also what Wade said, is it getting fuel?

i think it is... i keep on getting some back fire in the intake. Unless my gas is so old that thats whats causing the problems.

your getting "76 across the board"?? that's really low. You backfire could be from fuel igniting when the intake valve are opening... meaning the timing is off, which would also explain really low compression.

what should the compression be then if 76 is low?

Mine was between 95 and 100 on my old 2.5. Except for cylinder 1...that was 60

wade you never made a post on what happened on the 2.5.. what did you do

So it won't start? Just turns over?

I'd be looking into a timing issue. That compression is really low.

hmm ok.but what should the compression be then? 90? 100?

See this link for info on compression tests: Automotive Systems (http://64.78.42.182/sweethaven/MechTech/Automotive01/default.asp?unNum=2&lesNum=7&modNum=6)

Common values are listed at the bottom.

My low compression (8.8:1) 3L averaged 180 psi ... 76 is definitely an indication of improper physical timing.

Does it just stumble and pop? won't run on its own?

Are you positive that the pulse wheel is installed correctly?

I had the same problem the very first time I set up the timing on my SVT.
Pulled the timing cover off and the pulse wheel was in the wrong position...

Yeah, thats a ***** to do. I helped my boy do a 3L about a six months back and he timed it wrong.

I didn't think so. About an hour, while it was still in the car, too.

76psi???

It should be about 180psi across the board.
Sounds like the valves are not closing. Check physical timing chains AGAIN or check your gauge.

yea, i am getting around 180psi now as i did the 1st test i read it all wrong

anyways, still getting the same issue. Is it possible that a connection that gives information to teh ECU not sending the right info thus causing the problem?

i am having a local mechanic who has done a 3L hybrid swap with a S/C come take a look n see what he has to say.

check the top of the wiring harness on the back on the engine on the passenger side. Three connectors sit on a bracket on the rear valve cover- make sure they are snug, as almost every swap I have done the fastener on the harness clip is breaks or is already broken. Push all three together and see if the car will fire up.
