besides a supercharger or an engine swap cuz i dont have the money right now lol, what can make an 00 v6 cougar faster thats cheap? and ive heard that a stock intake is better to have then an aftermarket one, is this true?

You should really try and search around in the 2.5 Performance section first before posting in this Tuning section...

But an aftermarket inatke usually helps as the stock airbox is pretty restrictive... gutting the precats helps, and a free flowing exhaust, too.

Overall, SVT cams, 3L motor swap, better clutch (if you have a MTX), headers, and a GOOD TUNE will make the car much faster...

Nitrous is a quick boost for less money, but the power is only there when you push the button...

You can always move the IMRC for reliable power, install the ebay intake and pair it with a better filter (although the one it comes with is still a good improvement over stock) chop the rear muffler and pipe it out, it actually sounds good... and gut the precats. All for about 100 dollars! Basically, a fair boost in power, and after that, $$$

I mean, sure, the car has a Ractive intake, headers, custom head gasket, fuel line, and exaust system... but exactly how much extra power DOES that 15" tall wing and Mitsu.Eclipse taillights actually add, I wonder!

The only thing that could make this better, is if the car was also an ATX... is it wrong that I'm praying for that? :biggrin: :ty:

Duratech motors are poop. I wouldnt want to sink money into them for very little reward. But if you love the car, then I guess thats why you are all here.

"Duratec" motors are far from poop considering a 3L can handle 400hp on stock internals. The only reason it costs you so much to get there is because you need all the supporting mods, diff, clutch, suspension, bakes, tuning, etc. That's the same with any car though. You could say the 2.5L Duratec is poop but the 3L Duratec holds together very well. Also the 3.5L Duratec puts out very good power numbers and runs on 87 octane unlike all the other engines in it's class.

I might have 10 into my car but thats everything including body kit,trans work,supercharger,stereo,etc. If I were to buy a new car with everything I have done to my car and have as much horsepower that Im putting out,I would be looking at spending close to 30k.

Ive been in the mopar world and ive seen the light!!

Check out what they can get out of Chrysler 2.2L turboII with stock parts and cheap mods. a few thousand will get you a rebuilt 4 banger pushing 350hp easy at about only 20-25#'s of boost as a daily driver.

guy bought a shelby daytona for 500 bucks. put on 3inch exhaust and drag radials. Did free know-how tuning and runs high 12's.

also a factory spec r154 5spd trans from a supra which fits into the bell housing that bolts up to my Dakota and rwd converted daytons can handle 600whp.

Isnt it well known that cougars do not give you much bang for the buck?

Like I said though, if you like them then build away, but for the people who own one and want to get "bang for the buck" I believe, "Drive it off a cliff" says enough.

I use to be into big lifted chevy's but they are all the same and boring. I think little trucks with 100 switches and faggot tilted plates and the same paintjob on everyone get old but a nice little old school sport truck. Specially a nice late 60's chevy

Towing stuff is for big trucks, 4wd/awd is what makes a Subaru, a Subaru, and handling is anything lower, at all.

Street trucks are fun because they go fast for cheap.
I love seeing 1st gen S10's with sb in them. So sexy. Cyclones and Typhoons are a classic unique built vehicle which no one else has ever built anything like it and probably never will.
