does any one think that this chip will work or could it be just another cheap rip off Increase horsepower, add up to 22+ horsepower Improve Power and Throttle Response (http://www.stchiptuning.com/)

Rip off.

Check ebay, I bet you'll find that same piece of junk with a different name on it for even CHEAPER! lol

all together now, it it sounds to good to be true it most likely is ....

the hp "chip" is often just a cheap radio shack resistor thats worth $0.30 and it has been proven to loose power ...

all it does is make your car think your are bringing in extremely cold. air doesn't really help with power and your gas mileage will go down the drain.

my friend threw one of those in his v6 firebird it gave him an extra kick than he said after a month of an everyday kinda use it messed something up internally. he said the chip mad his MAF or w/e tell the ecu that it was suckin in 15 degree air and in reality he was suckin in 95 + humidy. get the CAI or SRI and relocate the IMRC u wont need anything like that

I dont recomend a SRI ..... specialy not in 95+ degrees

those "chips" are just a resitor that you plug into your Air Intake Temp sensor. Theres a reason that your car wants to know what temp the incoming air is, telling it somthing different is not a good idea.

An actual performance chip like a super chip, jet chip, diablo chip, or a programmer like an xcal are different. They talk to the cars ecu to alter your fuel and spark curves. These are the correct and much safer way to alter your computer. These will give more power while matining safe running conditions, provieded you have the correct programming for your mods/setup.

I have a Superchip. I was going to put it on Ebay, but if you are interested in it, PM me your engine code and I'll confirm with Superchips that it's the right chip for you. Your engine code is printed on the sticker on your engine computer. The computer is located on the floor underneath the dash on the passenger side.

According to Superchips website (http://www.superchips.com/product_reference.php?make=Mercury&x=27&y=9), the chip is good for any 2.5L Cougar from 1999-2002. Gains are +12HP +18ft/lb. MSRP is $265.00 but I'll take the best offer, hence Ebay. PM me with your engine code to confirm.

hey that page also has an ad for electric superchargers, kick ass lol
Check this shiz out lol Electric Superchargers from Shoreline Technologies, the only quality Supercharger on the net! (http://www.electricchargers.com/) It is a glorified electric air compressor but 20% HP improvement sounds about right and for $100, if it doesn't blow up your engine that's pretty bad ass (but it will blow out your alternator). But back to the point, yeah that chip's dangerous. If you send more fuel into the cyllinder than there's air for, that doesn't do a thing BUT people say that if your car is getting way more air than normal due to some modifications then it's useful because it will trick it into sending more fuel in. The idea is that your fuel injector control chip is maxed as in it hit some programmed in limit for how high much fuel it will send in regardless of air and the chip will make it send more. But even then it STILL won't help to add the chip because, duh the fuel injectors hit their limit so even if it thinks it's getting -40 degree air, it won't send any more fuel in. Basically your car should be sending in enough fuel for the exact amount and density (which is changed by temperature) that the air coming in is. If you want it faster, get more air in there and it will automatically send in more fuel. More fuel without air just means it's a good thing you have a catalytic converter cuz you're sending gasoline out the exhaust lol.

EDIT:
ROFLMAO. I read more about that electric blower and ZOMG it just has a turbine that you turn on via a switch. Nope, not even a dimmer switch, just a max or nothing on off switch rofl. Looks like something I'd build rofl. At least it comes with a performance chip you can send enough fuel in and last at least an hour before blowing yourself up when you flip the switch lol
Ooh read this:
Will this void my warranty?

No, not if the supercharger is uninstalled before scheduled maintenance.
Take a look in the FAQ, it seriously says that! *almost dies laughing*

hey it gets like 2-3 PSI. It's a rotating turbine that compresses air just like a standard turbo or supercharger. Just cuz you're supposed to hide it from your mechanic, there's no variability, and it will break your alternator doesn't mean it doesn't work lol.

We've discussed these before, they do not produce 2-3 psi, the ebay ones lie. E-ram's website says it get 1 psi, which is still high. Basically, they are saying that a fast pc cooling fan can make power...

i saw it too its compleatly bunk i talked to my friend about it who hooks up cars for a living and he said it is compleatly retarded because the fan doesnt move fast enough to cause any compression nor boost... :crazy:dont waste your money

I have a thread named What In Gods Name Is This, it is proven to create 1 psi and guess what their is a stage 2 for the 2-3 psi, can i just say one thing... just grab a leaf blower hook it up to the intake bang you got it, on streetfire.net they did that to a civic 99 si i think, low speed it created like 2 hp gain and full blast from the leaf blower it created a wopping 5 hp and like 3 tq. i was actually amazed but they were just playing around on the dyno difference between c.a.i. and leaf blower.

well, the chip tuning is a ecu tuning only if its the $300 ones that actually plug in the ecu directly. otherwise, the chips from ebay that go for $20, are pure garbage.
I didnt know much about these, so i took my chances and bought one and as soon as I started my cougar, the idling got all screwed up and my check engine light went on.
DO NOT BUY ANY CHIP THAT PLUGS INTO THE IAT SENSOR!!!
