If I get 2 tunes on the xcal2, 1 for daily driving and 1 for performance, can I switch between them while driving?

Not with an XCAL2. You have to load it on to the car's ECU with the car turned off.

Ok so if the car is turned off, I plug the xcal2 in and can scroll through my 2 tunes. Then when I fire the beast back up the different tune is active? This is plugged in under the steering wheel correct?

Yes

I have 3 on mine, one tune for 87 - 91 - 93. Plus you can turn it back to stock too if you want :)

Take about 3 min to change back and forth

Of course, if you get a four-bank SCT chip and purchase a nifty lil doodad from Logan Motorsports you'd be able to switch on the fly. ;)

Thanks Mich. I was unaware that the octane reading was a valuable part of the tunes. Ryan, Changeing tunes on the fly sounds great, unfortunitly I don't think it will be necessary for me.

Don't forget, unless you want to blow out your fuel pump, you should disconnect the fuse to the fuel pump (under the hood) before flashing the ECU with an XCal2.

oops

I think i've changed tunes 100+ times with the fuel pump cycling the whole time.

Actually from what I've heard this step is so your fuel pump doesn't drop the battery voltage down when the Xcal is trying to load up the software. This may happen if your battery is low on charge. If that happens it will stop in the middle of loading and you could have a problem on your hand. With a return fuels system it's only going to flush up to the feed line and back down to the tank via the return line. For a returnless car it may be more of a problem if the line gets full and the pump is still trying to push fuel in.

Either way, it's a step that I forgot to follow once and listened to the fuel pump "prime" for well over 2 minutes. I could see how this could easily drain a weak battery.

Ok so I told Joey everthing I think he needs to know in order to create my 2 tunes. I told him my mods CAI, Headers, Catback, SVT Lite upgrade and the octane reading for my tunes. Is this everything he needs, or did I overlook anything else that might make a difference?

did you tell him whether you are using 17# or 19# injectors? [are you interested in 22# injectors? PM me!]

From what he told me, it was still stock injectors. Which would make them 17#

Are the #19's or #22's going to help my car out? I do have a set of Orange #19's but will not install them if they won't do anything for my performance.

They'll only help if you need additional fuel. I would say you don't given the mods you have.
