Anyone know what kind of leather the XR seats are made of? The reason i ask is because I have a set of XR seats, that have damage to the red sections on the front.

Some of you may have seen them at Fest, and it's going to cost to much to get them professionally dyed/painted. Somewhere around $200... Which is almost half what I paid for the damn things.

The red sections have "water damage" as my detailer told me, probably from a window being left open. They're just dark spots on the leather. He quoted me the 200 for the repair.

I have looked around breifly on the web to see what can be done. So...

1) I can get them professionally painted or dyed, i dont have the money however...

2) I paint them, which I hear can end badly...

3) I dye them, if i can even dye this leather, or if it will even take care of the water damage.

Anyone know what can be done? The detailer tells me the seats have been previously dye or painted, can't remember which?

If you dye them the spots will be even darker, when you dye leather wherever there is discoloration (e.g.waterspots) they will take the dye but you will still see the spots as a darker color than the other part of the seat. Which would put you back to square one.

Blue magic worked wonders on my 35ths, why don't you try it on yours?

If you need I can send you a bottle of the cleaner and conditioner for about $20.

Spray the cleaner on and let it sit for about 5 minutes, wipe off. Repeat.

Then condition them with the conditioner profusely, like lots and be sure to rub the conditioner into the perforations. This will make the leather nice and supple.

Even if all the spots don't come out on the first half of a bottle just condition the seats anyway and re-clean them a week or two down the road.

Over time they will look better and better until you can't see the spots anymore.

BTW the seats are dyed and topcoated with a sealer.
