i have a 01 cougar and i was wondering if it was posible to put a supercharger on it. i found a vortech supercharger kit for the cougar but it was for the 99-00 cougars only, i was wondering if there was anyway to customize it to make it work.

thanks in advanced.

hey guys play nice. the reason its probably only listed as 99-00 is that was when they were actually selling them. I wasn't aware of any limitations having the returnless style.

u have to change ur fuel system to a return style system.... then get the 99 timing cover plus the idle pulley... and i am sure a few other things too... but not sure at this point

or you can wait a little bit and wait for a new kit that will hopefully be out soon

True I do have it but I have to do a bit more tampering and questioning some of the build. I recently picked up the car from another member and haven't had a real chance to play with it so I doubt that I'd be able to answer many of your questions about it yet. All I'm really looking for right now is a new fuel pump.

Or you can NOT change it, drop in the FocusSVT fuel pump and get a custom tune. Then you don't have to use the ghey azzed FMU provided by vortech to raise the fuel pressure to ungodly levels in order to get the correct amount of fuel.
The Vortec spec'd kit was designed for the contourSVT's 19# fuel injectors along with an inline boost fuel pump and a FMU that raised fuel pressure as boost raised. On an older type of car with a MAP type of engine management system this is not a bad thing. On a MAF style system where we can basically drop in injectors of any size, MAF of almost any size, and bigger fuel pumps, we can basically eliminate any of the hacking done to the fuel system.

And I just so happen to have experience tuning a vortec spec'd motor just this way....
