it's been a while since it was brought up... is having a wap site still being thought of? I'd like it not only for the cell phone, but having the stripped down sites is nice sometimes at work too.... wouldn't be as obvious that I'm playing instead of working :ty:
you can set your browser to not load images and itll look wappy :)

I actually tried that when I first started working there, but I do need a number of online pages for my job that use graphics... so simply turning off images didn't work because it made my work stuff unreadable.

When I'm at school I turn off signatures and avatars and that works pretty good. It's all the damn flashy pictures that catch their attention!!

that still doesn't help browsing from my phone, which is easy to get rid of the images there.

Just use a different browser for that.

Just use a different browser for that. not allowed to install software - otherwise would have long ago.

i can post from my phone, but have to scroll down the page like 6 times just to get past all the sidebar and topbar links... then in the post text box, all the formatting options are their own links (as in every font, size, color, etc)

I do believe that was directed towards the comment that you aren't allowed to install software on the work computer.
You can run a browser off a thumb drive, saving you from having to install it on the machine itself.

I don't have any problems browsing the full site on my phone. :shrug:That's because you have a REAL browser that extends & scales the content ... so, how is the iPhone?

Ohhhh, so THATS why I don't have a problem with it...
Uhm, it's pretty damn awesome. I was hesitant at first until I got to try one for myself. The experience is hard to explain or describe. I mean, it looks cool in videos and stuff, but once you use it it's just -different-. Everything flows together smoothly, everything works the way you think it should. There's not really any learning curve to using the phone at all, except perhaps typing, but even that is mostly a psychological thing.
I was busy trying to peck out individual keys one at a time, until my coworker came over and said "No dude, just start typing with both thumbs really fast, it'll correct everything for you for the most part, and you may have to change one or two things here or there, but over time it'll learn.."
So I started banging out an email with both of my thumbs and was pretty shocked. I had to correct one or two words on my own, but it was otherwise spot-on, and faster than any PDA-phone I've ever used before.
Uhm, other than that, it's cool to be able to access email and preview things like spreadsheets and word docs from your handheld, the google map is nice because you can see the traffic (red, yellow and green lines on the freeways) before you start your commute.. videos play awesome on it when you're on public transportation in the city. EDGE is a little slow but usable, battery life is pretty good. I can use it all day long before I have to charge it. The screen is ****ing fabulous, very hi res, and crisp as hell. Very bright, too. The funny thing is.. I think making phonecalls on the thing is easier and cooler than making phonecalls on a regular cellphone, which is pretty much the opposite of any PDA phone I've ever used.
Decent quality camera, too. :) PM me your email address and I'll email you some stuff.
