I have a 2001 Z24 5 spd and I always hear you guys talking trash about my car. I just wonder what you are thinking when you say the couger is much faster. I have a friend with a 99 v6 couger with pacesetter dual exaust and intake. I spank his ass every time and he knows it. I have an iceman intake ant theat is it. I love domestic but ford/merc suck sorry guys

First off nobody talked trash about your car, let's get that fact out of the way right now. You did not build all the Z24's out there, so don't put words in anybodies mouth.

Second off, while I am one of those Cougar owners who happens to think that the '99-'01 Cougars are not all that fast.....give me a break. The Z24s are dogs and you know it. I am sure there are a lot of really fast modded ones out there, but putting an intake on a stock Z24 is not going to make it fast. I assume your "friend" has an ATX going against your MTX.

If you don't want to hear stories of us beating the z-24's (and I highly doubt any one was lying about that), then don't come here. You need to keep in mind that this is a COUGAR board, all your doing is taking up space on our server with your comments. If we came to a z-24 board and started talking smack, then sure, say what you want. Around here, making a post like that as a new member takes your credibility and flushes it down the toilet. uhh not to disagree, but my MTX cougar weighs in at 2887 i know this because i had it weighed to get it registered. that stat is the ATX version.

I have not raced anyone in my new Cougar yet but I can tell you I beat a Z24 in my 1997 Ford Auto Escort 2.0L. Yes, I had mods ont hat car, ECU Chip, K&N Filter, Nology Hotwires, Stainless Steel exhaust 2.5".

I beat many cars and all I had was an Auto. Even took the car to 130-135mph a few times.

If you do not believe me why would I care. I usually do not get involved with these flame baits but I am bored today. Oh, and if you have NOS and twin turbos or something on your Z24, then I will bring out the motorcycle for a race. Either way you wont win, if I want to go really fast and do 0-60 in 2.7 secs I get on the bike.

In my gals 2000 Cougar (will have to put the video back up) we got it up to 130mph, it was only a V6 Automatic...however another time I was at 140 in it and a old man in a Cadillac stayed right with me up to 125mph.

i have had only one run in with Z24, it had some exhaust and 5 speed, thats all i know about it, anyways the guy pulls next to me at about 40.. sits next to me and looks etc... then down shifts and takes off, i was in 3rd i think he went to 2nd because he pulled to where his rear bumper was a little in front of my front bumper, when he shifted into 3rd i pulled on him and kept pulling to the tune of over a car lenght, i slowed he did to got next to me and gave me a thumbs up...

alright..my best-friend has a z-24 & i've drove it a lot..it's not that fast! not only is it slow, especially 4 a mtx..it's a damn CAVALIER! i mean honestly, let's all get back 2 that fact that it's a cavalier..ya know, 1 of the cheapest cars on the market! i used 2 have 1 *l*, that's why it's gone..& i now have a cougar.

hmm, i have pacesetter exhaust and intake, and i also have a friend with a z24 that only has intake, and spanks my ass every time we race just as he quoted, except until we hit 107, b/c that is where his governer is. We raced at the 1/8 mile track, he ran a 9.7, i ran a 10.2, i guess i am a bad driver then????????? OH well lets just end this little war then, but i'll guarantee this, you match up a v6 cougar mtx with intake and his cavilier, and he'll beat you.

I got lucky , mabye a good engine, but i constintly beat cougars. You asked for proof, the statement fom you fellow cougar (kilkenny), is that enough. I read somewhere that the Pacesetter exhaust cools the air down too fast, so it doesn't flow as efficiently, therefore resulting in a loss of HP. I was looking into the PS exhaust when I changed mine.... That's why I went with YoDude and Flomaster...

Z24: I have raced Z24s. This Chick I work with has a 00 Z24, and has been driving MTX all her life. I raced her a couple of times with my 2001 MTX Cougar, and she lost both times, not suprising because of the difference in power, ETC. Plus exhaust will not net you much power gain. Get A Clue!

Also when I first got my car I raced a chick in an mtx Z24 in my cougar and truth fully, I lost but that is what you get for haveing: a full tank of gas, and 5, yes 5 people in a 4 seater car. I think she won by a foot and she had some mods on it (at least an exhaust). So I know that I can beat one.

two of my friends have z24 and they couldn't beat me when I had borla and weapon r . They had full exhaust intake and a high flow cat. Now a z24 will be luckly to come with in 2 car lengths of me.I have alot done now but still you dont see us coming to your site and crying its just words

i'm not trying to bash your car but here in canada a cougar retails for 28k and a cavalier is 18k, that is 10k in difference of course our call will slightly outperform your car

that is like a mustang gt beating us , of course it will but it costs more $$$$

i've raced my buds cavalier numerous times and have yet to lose at all, the cavalier just isn't meant to be that quick!! (unless you have mods of course)

dangit, my car is not slow or messed up, his cavilier is just quick as hell. I don't know why he is coming over here talking trash, but he is not lying about beating cougars, or many other cars incuding many modded up civic si's, preludes, and integras. Im sure there are some other cougars out there that could beat him, but the truth mod for mod, his cavilier is gonna beat a cougar. look at the stock 0-60 times and compare them to a cougar. In road and track they show the cavilier to do 0-60 in 7.6, while the cougar is at 7.9. I don't know how accurate they are but lets just end this, some cars are faster than others, and yes, i know how to drive, and no, my car is not messed up. Next time we have a lonestar neco meet up, ill call him and tell him to come by, so he can race all of us cougars that show up, that would end the all the war, im not dogging on my car, i love the way it looks, i think it looks much better than his, but for a 4 cyl its pretty quick.

well...my friend has the cav w/ the 2.4, and so far these are his mods: 2.25" downpipe, hiflo cat, 2.25 custom catback, intake, RK upper & Lower mounts (I'd recommend these), RSM intake, RSM ported intake manifold, and RSM 62mm racing throttle body. Since he got the cat and downpipe, he can finally reel me in...before, I'd walk him like a dog. I'm not too impressed w/ stock cavi's, modded and they might get serious...course, we'd be just as dangerous if we lost about 500lbs...
