I recently bought a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST (turbo for the ones that dont know). I was told by the guy i bought the car from that all the car needed was an inspection, brakes, and new valve lifters (those fimilar with 4g63 motors know the old style lifters suck) so i got a great deal on the car. After taking it to a repuable mechanic for the lifters he started the car and me and him heard loud rod knock comming from the bottom of the motor, so that motor was pretty much done. 2 weeks ago i bought a new (less than 15000 miles on it) motor from japan direct which is guaranteed for 6 months. so if you buy this car and blow the motor you will get another from them unless it is from drivers fault (turning up boost, running lean etc...)I am selling this car because after buying the car being lied to about its condition :mad:then spending all the money i am finanically exhausted. my loss if your gain though. ok so here is the good.

1. New Motor (less than 15,000) with 6 month warranty
2. New front axle
3. New 02 sensors
4. Extra parts (including turbo from old motor)
5. BOOST!- Currently still on stock 10 psi.

I have all paper work for the motor and axles & sensors.

the bad
1. The turbo is whining, but i have a replacement for it but i dont have the money anymore to put into this car but you will get the replacement turbo.
2. The driver side front fender has alot of dings in it and small ding on door.
3. Needs tunes-stock cd player has a short in it.
4. For some reason unknown to me it likes to pop out of 1st gear every once in a while.

To this point i have put over 8 grand into this car and cannot do it anymore.im am currently asking for $6200 firm or a trade for a reliable cougar or PM me if you have something maybe we can work something out. Thanks

i really need to get rid of this car so i can get me another one....so ive lowered the price to 6,000. also i for got to mention the car does have alot of extras such as....
1.apex-i twin chamber blow off valve
2. Evo 8 front mount intercooler
3. 5zigen cat-back exhaust
4. Injen air intake
5. Pro-controller boost gauge
6. Pro-controller air/fuel ratio gauge
7. If wanted the other motor from the car all i needs is a new connecting rod and piston assembly.
8. Brand new brakes all the way around

The car runs real strong and is at full boost at about 3500 rpms and doesnt fall off at all till its time to switch gears

Someone please help a fellow neco member out. Thanks

so is the new motor in the car and what happened to the old motor?

the old motor had severe rod knock so i went ahead and replaced the whole motor. The motor came from a automatic turbo car and is in the car right now. The motor is fine as i am still driving it to and from work. The turbo on the new motor since it was an automatic is a smaller turbo the what the manual versions of the car get is slowly starting to go bad. The turbo on the old motor is still good and also what should be on the car in the first place. I actually have the turbo sitting in my trunk waiting replacement but im one of those people who can tell you alot about cars but cant work on them for **** so i dont have the money to switch them out.

LOL, I currently own a 95 GS-T, this August will be one year of having the car. It has only been running on the road for a week. I myself was lied too twice. Purchase of the car and the purchase of a motor. Just keep [ushing better days are coming! Just a question... You bought a new motor from an Auto with less then 15,000 miles. This is a 7-bolt of a 6-bolt, reguardless what year? And is the mileage on the engine is actually true how could the turbo be bad?

the motor came from a 7 bolt automatic from a car from japan direct. According to their website they get all there motors from cars that have been wrecked (a$$ ended, t-boned, etc...) and are guaranteed to be under 30,000 miles but i was told that this motor i have now was only 15,000 miles into life before whatever it was in got splatted. I didnt know this till recently but automatic 7-bolt 4g63's dont get the TD05 (16g) stock turbo like we did they get a smaller TD04 (14b i believe in turbo terms) I found out why my turbo was doin the so-called 'death cry" the oil feed line had a bend in it so basically i starved my turbo and ended its exsitince very quickly. But the car is doing alot better now i just gotta figure out why it has a bad idle sometimes then mechanially she'll be perfect, then onto body work.

Bad idle? Check your MAF as well as your vacuum lines. Also play with the idle screw on the TB. My best guess is the MAF. You should have a few tunig buddies. Swap in one of thiers it will take about a whole 5 minutes! GL!

FYI: 90-94 Eclipses came with the 14B turbo which is better then the t-25 turbo that came off the 95-99 Eclipses. Smaller housing= faster spool up!

ive already bought some mass air flow cleaner and cleaned it out. Im thinking that i do have a vacuum line unhooked or broke, because it wont do high bad idle unless it has been running for like 15-20 mins and gets warmed up.

MAF cleaner? There is such a thing but i doubt its 100% proof that it will work. Just try it. Or if all else doesn't work don't forget your MAF. Are you venting you bov w/o MAFT?

yea MAF cleaner is just like brake cleaner but MAF cleaner dries completly within 5 seconds and leaves no residue behind they sell it here where i live in a silver aersol can. but as for your question about the venting of my bov, what is the mass air flow translator?? is that the place where the air comes from the intake and where the MAF connector is connected to because the piece that i have there isnt a stock piece the previous owner must have put that on the car.

Take a pic! Hard to describe but if its stock you prolly have a metal intake pipe running from the turbo to this big oval black plastic piece then to your filter. If its the MAFT and GM (general motors) MAF its 3'wide as in a circle and its skinny with a plug on top.
