So i'm driving home from work and a guy from work pulls up in his mazdaspeed6 at the light. I really did not think he was going to push it but I stayed ready just in case. The light turns green and we both take off. Needless to say I lost.... It was only a race from 0-60 roads where damp from a rain early that day. we slow down to 40 and go about are way..... he pulls ahead of me because the lane was about to turn into one lane. As the road goes into one lane there is a pretty drastic turn to the left. I am about 50 feet from the turn and think to myself " man there have been alot of members going off the road in rain so I better slow down just to make sure nothing happens" just as that goes through my head the car infront of the MS6 goes of the road and into the ditch. They pulled back onto the road and then pull into a neighborhood to check out the car.

I just though that it was wierd that I thought that and it happend to another car.

on another note at work someone came in and wanted to put 4 speakers and a deck into there cougar. it was a bone stock 99 MTX V6 with 123000 miles on it. took me 2hours to do along with a radar install. After I got done with the car I took it out back to drive just to feel the difference between it and my cougar. I could not believe the difference I/H/E and SVT mani's made. I am very happy with the money I have invested in mine.

yep, be careful out there. the cougars weight ratio is horrible when it comes to sliding around on mountain roads in the rain.
i know from experience :(

i love sliding if it was on an open parking lot or a huge dirt lot, but other than that... no streets for me lol

They don't call 'em the mean streets for nothing.

As do I, it started out as a slide and I just kinda turned it into a "controlled 180" to keep everything good. I was trying (very stupidly) to keep with a full-modded SVT Focus with a VERY experienced driver and this left-hander on a canyon road ended up a little sharper than I had expected. Back end started to step out, and I probably could have kept it straight if I wanted. I took a quick look to each side, saw no impending objects or obstacles, cranked the wheel LEFT, and went "both feet in" as they say in Autocross (both feet on the brakes, just stop the car where you are). I ended up sitting PERFECTLY pointed the other direction in the other lane, was kinda funny afterwards.

It's so easy to get the Cougars back end unstable. I did a 180 once after being cut off, drilled the brakes as I swerved, hello on coming traffic.

if you get understeer in a cougar before over steer man does your tires blow. that or ya didnt figure out downshifting gives you more traction. like this guy i knew had a saturn sl2 or whatever. he used to take close turns real quick and i told him yo one day halfway through that turn your just gonna go straight. i said go from the outside in and drop it down a gear. and one day i was behind him playing cat and mouse and that mouse went into oncoming traffic and up onto a curb. no wheel damage or nothing suprisingly. (low curb)

Yeah i've wrapped my rear end around too going on a small curvey road in town here came around the corner (new tires up front, pretty crappy in the back) didn't notice that there was sand all around the corner, I was about sideways, two feet in and did the same thing, perfect 180 lol. So I just took of in that direction and went home. Didn't want to risk any more unwanted sand.
