Here is the deal, I went down to Ford about 3 months ago before I got my headers to make sure there is a superchip available for my car. They looked and called some people and found one aweosme news.

The other day I went back down to ford to get the chip ordered and they said superchip doesn't have them and never carried them for Cougars. So I try telling the guy that they found one before but to no luck. I go home and decide to google it. Sure enough, first dam thing I click on (Parts train.com) I then give buddy at Ford a call with the part number and told him about it (blue, unprogramed, flash module).

I know there are some cougar owners with a superchips brand 'chip' I was just wondering if anyone has a part number available just so I can be sure that I have the real part number not one that the website (partstrain.com) uses for their invintory.

THe part number I have is #S541100, is this correct?

Thanks a bunch!

Dont know about superchips, But I have a JetChip (http://www.jetchip.com/products.asp?pid=21695&make=47&model=720#720) and as stupid as is sounds theres a different part number for every year cougar. Even though 99(returnless)-02 are the same they have different numbers. I dont know if there was slight differances in the cumputer codes or what. I have a chip made for a 2002 in my 2000 SE and it runs fine. I got it off ebay from someone who had wrecked their car for $20 :)

I would say to contact Superchips, I have seen the blank ones for the cougar for sale but they have to be programed by Superchip. And you need to contact them to have them programed anyways.

im not sure about a part number but ive been looking into superchips for a while and they do make one for my 99 cougar its a universal one and all you need is the numbers from your cars computer and they will program it for your car

So finally figured things out, turns out there are none available because somewhere down the road my computer was re-programed they tried the number on the cumputer, then ran a coad and found all this out. But looks like the 'superchip' isn't really that great anyways compaird to the other stuff out there. It is just a base chip nothing special and its not a tune at all it just spikes your power levels. I think somewhere down the rdad I will get something nicer and spend some more cash on it.

Oh yeah and the CEL from my header install was really the rear 02 sensor heater on the front header, I jus though the plug and play blung for the 02 sensors didn't work.

You should be able to get a superchip for your car, but to really make it worth it you'll need to tune your car to that chip. Look up a tuning shop, go to that shop and they sell you the chip, and then they tune it (based off your ecu code) to your car on a dyno. You have to pay additional dyno tune and tune time. Dynotuning is much more expensive, but much more efficient and the biggest power gain. However, you can buy a chip, give them your ecu code and they can tune it based on your ecu code. Blueovalchips.com is supposed to be a good mail order SCT superchip.

nice thanks dude! I was planning on dynoing it sometime in the future (not sure when) but that would definatly be the best gain.

I will have to check out that website too thanks

Yes sir it is. It is my understanding that any Superchip tuner could flash the chip to a tune for your car and computer code but I never looked into that myself.

That was they same chip they told me wont work, I believe it is a 1100 series. They said it would have worked if my computer wasn't reprogramed. Also thy said it was just a base tune and they wouldn't be tuning the car for the modifications I have done to it like other chips. This being said I was kind of turned off from the superchip. I appreciate the offer but I think I will pass, unless everything they told me was faulse information and I could tune it for the mods I've done and use the chip.

If you are looking for somethign to be easily Dyno tuned adn tuned for your mods you need to look into the SCT stuff
