thanks to all of you who came and had not been to Ford Nats before! It was nice to have some new people to see what Carlisle is all about. For those of you who couldn't make it this year, try for next! We had 11 in the show field and 1 in the Cougar History display.
Thanks again!

Looks like you had a great time! What's with the swerving, to the right, line of Cougars going through the intersection in the first photo?
The intersection wasn't 90° angles, the street we needed was slightly to the left since the street we were on was angled slightly to the right...

Just wondering if anyone got a pic of the "Obsidian" Mustang that was on the stage by where we were parked. That bish had 2 superchargers and the intercoolers mounted on the top of the engine and was claiming 900Hp:eek: I wanted a pic of the car and the engine but never went back with the camera.
Edit: Nevermind heres the SEMA article with pics...(PS I know its not a cougar)

They ran it on the dyno there, 570+hp and 450+ Tq while smoking the wheels on the dyno. Had Drag slicks and stil smoke was pouring off the wheels on the dyno. Vyk (Seth) can vouce he was there.

The Thunder-49 Merc thing is, uh, interesting. I mean its a great job with the body work, but I'm just not feeling the fixture of the two cars.

ted, hey sorry i didnt make it out there, it looks like i missed a pretty d**n good time :( , but we still have cougar fest i wont be missing that
wow cool turbo merkur :)
Well, Merkur XR4Tis were turbo from the factory. (Hence the T in XR4Ti.) The turbo in that PM Motorsports Merk, though, could pretty much swallow the stock turbo! It also had a Volvo head mated to the stock block (it's not quite a drop-on replacement, but it can be done), not to mention a horde of other mods.
They ran it on the dyno there, 570+hp and 450+ Tq while smoking the wheels on the dyno. Had Drag slicks and stil smoke was pouring off the wheels on the dyno. Vyk (Seth) can vouce he was there.
535hp and 460lb-ft, actually. Stayed at about 10.4 AFR during both runs. The thing was awesome. He could barely get the thing started, but once it was up and running, dang! The power came in hard at 4000RPM, which is what broke the wheels free on both runs. The audience cheered after he shut it down the first time, and once he successfully got it fired up for the second run (it did not want to start up, and somebody actually ran up with a booster pack for it), and they cheered again after his second run was done. It was truly a thing of beauty... (ok, actually, the car was uglier than week-old dog crap, but man, did it make power!) I still would've loved to see what he could have done if the wheels had stayed linked up. The owner (Phil Marshall) was a tiny bit ticked, because he didn't feel like they strapped the car down enough, but he was pretty cool about it. (Which, considering that he probably got some of the best numbers of the day while smoking the tires with a 4-banger, I suppose makes sense that he wouldn't worry too much. ;) ) He hung around his car for a bit after the runs, answering questions from the small mob that was drooling. :)
I did see another couple of dyno runs, too, including a Contour SVT thoroughly failing to show off -- made 145whp. :(

hmm, I knew the guy went to the dyno but I didn't hear what he put down. That is pretty low but I have no idea what shape the car was in and who knows the dyno might have been off too ....

Yes. I rode through to take racerx back to his trailer and purposely went down that aisle so I could drool. Very nice looking cars!!

Well, in fairness, it was pretty hot. Also, that Contour didn't sound like it had much work done on it. (I could be wrong, but it sounded like a stock SVT exhaust.) Basically, I hope it was to get an idea of a baseline before he starts tuning it, because if that car had much work done on it, something was seriously wrong...

Whats the next show thats Keystone is attending? Cougarfest?
Hopefully my car will make it w/o the help of a tow-truck. For any that didnt hear, my pass front caliper came unbolted going down the highway on the way there. I pulled into a service station, hit the brakes and the caliper flew into the wheel tearing the wheel up pretty bad. And blieve it or not w/ 3.5" of ground clearance ( measured by Vyk @ the show) i can get on a roll-back...with a little help
And if anyone likes my subs, they are and have been for sale for a while

06-04-2007, 03:47 PM
wow that freakin sucks but ill make sure you make it to cougarfest...ill take a rope and if anything happens ill tow ya there with my cougar haha even if im already at our room ill come find ya....
Oh, we still made it, it just took 6 hours to go 200 miles...
That was pretty disturbing, though. It was making a bunch of noise slowing down on the highway, a frightening amount of noise pulling into the parking lot, and when we got down to about 5-10mph, the caliper just bit into the side of the wheel, and the car stopped dead suddenly enough that the engine stalled. The inside of the wheel is pretty messed up, although the rotor was undamaged and the caliper was only cosmetically damaged. (...and the score is: steel caliper 1, aluminum wheel 0.)
Meh, it only took two tow truck drivers, 4 boards, and removal of the exhaust tips to get the thing onto the flatbed without scraping anything (except maybe the air dam just a touch). Amazingly, the stock jack can lift the car without putting more than slight pressure on the side skirt, too, although I'm skeptical on whether Ted would be able to get it back out if he had to put on the donut.
Official quote of Ted's Zebra: "$h!t, that's low!" (Said, with a little variation, by at least 5 people during the course of Friday and Saturday, including me upon my first sight of the thing with the body kit on it.)

Similar thing happened to my F150 last winter. I lost one of the caliper bracket bolts, which allowed the caliper and bracket assembly to swing out into the wheel. It would scrape like crazy, then bite into the wheel and lock it up. Left quite a groove in my American Racing wheels too
