I have a friend that has an 04 GTO and he has a high performance book for the LS1-LS7. The book has a section that says you can bust the screen out of the MAF sensor then take a dremel and smooth all the rough edges out. The book says this would give him an extra 2 hp at the rear wheels (dyno prooven.) Does anyone think this would do anything for the Zetec?

Other things that it says you can do is port the TB with a dremel. Which I wouldn't be doing that because I'm in the process of getting an aftermarket TB.

All the neat little "do this and shave that" tricks thats in this book has dyno tested up to 20 hp to the rear wheels.

Hi Spakes; I tried this with an old 2.5L MAF. It throws your ecu off. The maf is calibrated. By hogging it out you alter the air mass and speed. To make this work...you would probably need to get it re-calibrated afterwards and the curve flashed to your ecu. Probably better off getting an aftermarket with calibrations from a member. I'm fairly sure I read a thread about this...maybe search MAF questions of the wise and good of the forum !! hope this helps..G.

I know Jaged ported out a MAF, don't know how it worked out for him though.

Jason is a victom of having too many spare parts laying around.

Spakes, if you happen to have a few spare MAFs laying around and too much free time, feel free to give it a try. Otherwise dont.

hello pot

I know! isn't it great when you dont have to worry about daily driver reliability, integrity, or safety.

and yes, I have an extensive history of ruining parts because I've ground too much metal off. but thats why I keep multiple multiple spares.
