Pretty cool tutorial for that kind of 'movie' effect :)

http://ebin.wordpress.com/2007/03/21/how-to-turn-your-photo-into-movie-like-effect-using-photoshop/

Did a quick little test and its pretty fun if you do it to a picture of a city or busy street! (but to keep this cougar related, I tried it out on a car)

Micah, can you do with that focal length plug-in you had instead of the blur tool?

Holy crap dude, I forgot all about that plug-in:rofl: I'm not sure how it will look. I could possibly look with the realistic Bokeh effects, aperture maps, and photometric burnout.

I'll give it a shot:)

I just wondered if it would be more accurate....

Ok, lets see what you think......It appears as though it's not as harsh as the lens blur|eraser. Not much difference though.

updated.....I forgot my contrast layer on the 2nd one.....

You can really tell around the front wheel. The blur is not as messy. It was much easier since I can pic a focal point, "live", and it will apply the blur. I also used a pentagon aperture map.

I think the first one you did was the best Micah :)
It almost feels like its somewhere between a sepia and b/w picture... very cool!

After looking at yours and Jam's, I think I will stay away from the blue filters next time :flushed: looks MUCH better without it!

Yeah, I added a sepia photo filter to the second one. I thought it looked pretty good with it. The 1st one does have a little less of that same tone but, like I said, the blur is messy.

sweet find! attempted using lens blur/render of a coug. shouldn't have erased so much blur and should've used less noise but the point comes across. I like Magic's lens blur version better for some reason but the two are very similar.

^^^^ Ummmm don't know if it works so well with that shot. It looks more like a crappy camera phone photo that would be posted on AutoTrader.

ZincKat that rendering is hot. I really like the paint scheme. If I was getting my car repainted today I would have to copy that.

My attempt using tnkgurls photo:

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a187/ncox/TestCinemaEffect.jpg

I couldn't get the lens blur filter to work correctly though. It kept applying the filter to both layers instead of just the top one. Any ideas why?

One thing I'm seeing and it's just my opinion, but everyone's pics seem to be really dark. Don't follow the tutorial exactly when it comes to exposure, offset, and gamma. His didn't get as dark and harsh as some I've seen here. It takes away from the image IMO:)

Nathan, you just apply it to the top layer and then erase a section around the car. I suggest making the brush radius a little smaller than the car. If it's not coming out right, check your dpi/image size. If the image is large, sometimes an effect won't be as noticeable. If it's not then take then kick that radius slider to the right a bit more.....I assume you did that though.

Got a little thing for the VW's recently eh M? ;)

I haven't played around with the filter in a while, but when I did mine, I liked that kinda blue effect...

That last one you did... it looks different, more like it should be called a "dreaming effect" :)
I also like the faint horizontal-lines...I think I have that in a filter called "television" or something. hehe!

Yeah, the last pic I did actually sucks pretty hard:rofl: I think there's too much blur to begin with and the added blur just ruins it. Aaron nailed it with his pic on page 1.

You know you love my scanlines:cool::rofl:

The exposure controls are new for CS I believe. Not sure if you can download it anymore but there was a public beta version of CS3. There's probably a free trial on Adobe's website.
