OK, I've been talking with Greg and we are looking at creating another West Coast Prowl event, mainly because for most of us, Cougarfest is either totally out of the question, or is going that way fast. I don't want to make a scheduling conflict with Cougarfest though, because there are a couple folks out here that are going and I don't want to make them have to pick one or the other.

So for the date, I'm looking at a September/October timeframe similar to previous WCP's (the most recent one was in 2004, IIRC). This eliminates scheduling conflicts with Cougarfest, and also takes into consideration that the summer here can be both very hot, and gas prices would be at their peak as well. Usually in Sept/Oct, those prices usually come back down.

Location. For now, I will just make a poll for "Where would you like to hold a West Coast Regional Cougar meet?" This isn't "100% locked" by votes, but it will give us an idea of where it is most preferred. The choices?

Las Vegas, NV, home of WCP2 in October, 2004. Fairly centrally located for most west-coasters, and an AWESOME place to have a "getaway weekend". You can never run out of stuff to do there. My initial research showed rooms on The Strip in the $100/night (Sahara), $115/night (Circus Circus), to $145/night (Las Vegas Hilton). Great prices for an "on-the-Strip" hotel.

Phoenix area (hosted by AZ NECO)
Los Angleles or San Diego areas (hosted by SoCal NECO)
Bay Area (hosted by NorCal NECO)
Northwest area (hosted by NW NECO).

I personally like Vegas as the best choice, but lets see what you guys think.

Please only vote in the poll in your local section, that way its easier to keep track of which one is the most popular.

EDIT: I've gone through and merged ALL of the WCP threads so we can have a single discussion about this rather than spread out over the different sections. In doing this I think some votes may have been lost. If it allows you to vote, please do so again we can get a proper count.
Thanks

how is it I knew this was a bobby thread before even opening it? ;)

I like vegas an all, but it's not exactly central. I can get to LA easier than LV (if driving).

and if you are looking for cheap rooms - and do like vegas, early to mid december historically is SUPER cheap - like $35 night. It's about the only time of year that there are not 5,000 conventions going on.

At the last WCP, I was only 18. It did kinda suck, but I didn't have my own car either. There is ALOT of stuff you can do not being 21, plus it means that you could be the Designated Driver, and you'd get to pimp your car on the Strip while all our cars are in a parking lot somewhere.

And honestly I'm not really the "drinking type" anyways, so I would probably hang out with the under-21'ers more anyways.

Goldie
04-04-2007, 01:02 AM
ok - since I replied in the New Mexico (who are the New MExico members?!) thread and didnt realize you added threads to all the west coast chapters... figured i'd reply here toooo...

John also mentioned a while back about the possibility of him being back around the So. Oregon Coast for family and a meet in that area might be cool. That would save alot of driving over everyone from Cal, AZ, etc driving to Seattle and I'd be up for coordinating something (or up here in Portland - or Seattle).

The last time an AZ NECO'er stayed at Joe's, his car basically got totalled by vandals. I obviously don't know the area, but I would be somewhat leery about that given what happened with Byrd.

It isn't a bad area. People's cars are really at risk anywhere on the street. besides, i parked in front of ty's house and within like 30 minutes someone wrong in gangster on my car through the dust.

The only issue with Joe's place is it's vicinity to all the bars and such in the neighborhood so there is no parking and you occasionally get crazy drunk people who potentially do things like vandalize a car.

With a little more time we can actually plan some things out instead of playing it by ear like we usually do.

Just a warning though, somebody will have to "offer up" their place as a place for us all to party and drink into the wee morning hours during said NorCal Fest.

Because, well, we're all just like that.

But seriously... why NorCal Fest?

Because this is what NorCal Fest is like. Sometimes.

Well from what I've seen, the NorCal area seems to be the predominant choice? Mike has also hijacked the name, and suggested we rename it "NorCal Fest", lol. I'm not opposed to the Bay Area at all, Bigoudi spends alot of time up there and has shown me pictures, its a beautiful area.

Anyone have any thoughts on what sort of timeframe we should look at? September? October? Maybe early-November?

Labor Day would "probably" be ok with me, we'll see. I think I make my LAST car payment on the last week of August, so I'll have to see how everything falls.

I suggested labor day weekend again, since that's when we did NorCalFest last year

I don't either and I have to be there. ;)

Remember how we made you drive in the back for having the subie? Well they are going to make me drive 500 feet back from the rear to make it look like I am not part of the group. :(

Of course, since I probably won't be able to make 'Fest (not ruling it out yet, but its about 90% no right now. Apparently NO ONE can take any days off in July because our store inventory is July 31st. Then again, I may not be working there still come July, so who knows...)

Thanks. It wasn't quite what I wanted in terms of a banner. At one point Ty was back there also in the other lane and that GMC wasn't tailgating but that photo didn't come out to well and I deleted it.
