I read that some people on here need to have their keys reprogrammed... Which year cougars required this? My keys look normal it doesnt look high tech... On the end of it .... it looks like its covered in some type of black plastic with the mercury logo on it.........

There's a transponder in our keys.
Are you looking to make a copy of it? You need to purchase a key and have it programmed, otherwise it will not work as far as starting your car.

Yeah and if you dont have 2 original keys you'll have to make a trip to the dealership or buy a cable and software for your computer for 6 grand and do it yourself.

I have two original keys... Its just I went to the dealer to find prices on sunroof parts and I saw this key... Probably a jaguar key and it had attached a small little box like to unlock the doors set the alarm Looked like a pop out key or something..... etc.. etc.. and a Light bulb came into my head involving fiberglass bondo and some wood. lol.... but I guess I can scratch that idea.....

The Jag key will have a transponder built in to it, But it may be the wrong type. Depends on if its an x type key or an s type key.
