Speedhut gauges question??

So, i ordered a set and noticed that they do not rely on the stock backlighting. I am quite certian that meens that they provide thier own light souce when hooked up to a 12 volt power supply. SO, do i need to disconnect the stock bulbs behind the gauges? Will they shine through during night driving. The reason i ask is i currently have white face gauges and notice the backlighting near the center of the needles at night as well as a general brightness of the entire face. What i want is at night the face to be completly black(dark), except the rpm and speed #s. The new gauges are white face, but the #s glow blue at night. I really don't want any ambient light from the stock bulbs coming through; if that is indeed the case
