Online run through on changing timing belt

Looking for procedures for:

1) changing vct solenoid on zetec cougar
2) changing timing belt on zetec cougar (99, built 4/98)
3) changing fuel pump on zetec cougar

I found a link here in the FAQ but it was no longer active. Done these items on other cars, just love having a list of what tools and parts to collect before hand. Ordered a chiltons but IME those aren't as good as online enthusiasts. any links/suggestions?

For the timing belt you're going to need the 2.0L Zetec CAM and Crank locking tools https://www.zxtuner.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=191&categoryId=24.
You could also get the GATES Timing kit. It comes with the belt, instructions, and the tensioner and idler pulleys.

For the VCT Solenoid removal you'd have to take off the exhaust cam. If you're getting a CEL for the VCT Solenoid, it could just be that you're engine is out of timing (unless its the low impedance code). So, I'd be hesitant to go changing the VCT Solenoid.

For the fuel pump I believe there was a how-to up for a V6, so i'd guess its the same process. I think you can remove it underneath the rear seat without dropping the gas tank.

Looks like you need to find yourself a ford cd.
