Hi Mike

I banned you.

You condoned it when members abused me on .com. You are not going to sign up on .net and act like you are my buddy after you did that. I complained to you and you did nothing. You voted to have me banned, WITHOUT any warning (no People, I never did get a warning).

If you would like to issue me with an apology, then I will consider removing the ban.

Anyway, after our conversation at Christmas time, I thought you would have set up your own club by now, like you said you was thinking about.

The same goes for Paul Whitelock who incidentally was also a moderator.com who is guilty of the same failing. Not wanting to be rude about it but they both were part of the rot taking place on .com that was only interested in the opinions and views of its oldest members who would not challenge admin about it's policies when they were clearly not in the clubs interests. Policies like using peoples PM's to justify banning members. If two members have a disagreement in private that's where it should stay unless in admins case namely Shagmonkey who used his position as a member of admin to wage a public campaign of insults against members of the forum.

Cougar 571 and Paul Whitelock were 2 of a number of Mods who stood buy and didn't challenge it clearly when it was wrong, and incidently both voted for the banning of members without any dialogue investigation or consultatiton prior to banning them.

We run our forum on different and better principles like Betty says if they can offer an apology then we'll consider the genuiness of it.

How wrong you are Rick.

Is this a better, it's certainly different, principle?:- Ban them because they didn't agree with me!! "Without any dialogue, investigation or consultation prior to banning them" (Me, in this case)
Pot & Kettle spring to mind here.

You will find out, given time, that as a Moderator you can't please everyone, by it's very nature a Moderator is just that, they moderate.
In simple terms, a Mod' has to try & find a way to appease ALL parties in a dispute, not one or the other, although this sometimes can happen.

The thread in question was 'moved' out of the public eye by me, because we couldn't reach an acceptable conclusion by all parties involved, which is what you requested, so where's the problem in that Rick?
You even PM 'd me & said "Thank you!!"

Love your spin on the situation Mike but you have neglected to tell people how many pm's and messages it took to remove it. (And as for my thank you that was me being polite and nothing else)

Bottom line is your role was not to appease everyone, your role in that situation should have been to do what was right, not because I wanted it but because it was the right thing to do at the time. Moderating is not about sitting on the fence when a wrong has been committed and I guess that's where the difference between us lies.

Anyway, like Betty says an apology is due and without one you will remain banned It's your choice.

It's your choice.

As you are well aware Rick, and also neglect to say, the said thread was in an Admin' section,
a section where, as far as I was aware, Mod's didn't have any Moderation rights!!

As for the 2nd quoted piece, what you are really saying is "What happens on a different web site
will affect what happens on another"

Going by that maxim, it is a point everyone may want to bear in mind when posting on here.
Sorry Rick, but that smacks of hypocracy to me.

Hi Mike

I have a couple of questions to ask you

Firstly, do you think it is fair for members to resurrect an old username to intimidate me?

Secondly, did they receive a warning for doing this?

Thirdly, Do you think I deserved a warning for complaining about attempted sexual harrassment on .com?

1/ Firstly, do you think it is fair for members to resurrect an old username to intimidate me?

2/ Secondly, did they receive a warning for doing this?

3/ Thirdly, Do you think I deserved a warning for complaining about attempted sexual harrassment on .com?

1/ I have always known you as Betty Boop, I don't know anything about an old username let alone intimidation.

2/ I have no knowledge of this, see above answer.

3/ If you are referring to the "Harry" thread, the only time I saw your name mentioned, was an oblique comment "When Harry met Betty" I still can't see anything even approaching "Sexual Harrassment."

Betty Boop

Ok Mike, thanks for that

Just one more question though

Why was I banned without being given a warning first, even though all the threads since have said that I did get a warning? I would really like an answer to this one seeing as it was a unanimous decision to ban me.

Sorry Rick, but that smacks of hypocracy to me.

There is no Hypocracy involved here Mike , we've given you the benefit of having your say in this. Whilst we welcome members of .com without prejudice The admin and mods (The ones who had the vote) we feel are an exception because of the way they condoned the behaviour of certain members and Shagmonkey in particular.

You continued to back its decisions even when you knew it was wrong and then continued to stand by the lie admin used as an excuse for their actions . We take the view that since you do not have any regrets about how this was done we in truth cannot welcome you.

No doubt .com will be back up at some point I'm sure your colleagues there will commend you for your loyalty to them.

Paul you are nobody special here, so I guess no special treatment for you .Everything you say you have no evidence for but you put it up on.com as truth. as you are realising now there are a good number of people who don't quite believe you in what you said on a nember of things including producing a breakdown of what has been done with members contributions we've never had a straight answer out of you and your colleagues on that why should anyone believe anything you say?

But all of these exchanges are becoming quite pointless let's face it the only reason you still have a Cougar is that it was the only deal you could get in town as part of an exchange in getting rid of Thundercat. You've told us on more than one occasion that you didn't really want to be involved anymore with.com well it seems your only reason to exist here is to excercise your personal vendetta against certain members ex members of .com

We've moved on I think time for you to as well. We and others have had our chance to have our say that you and your colleagues tried to deny us.

We are now getting on with the Job you and your colleagues failed to do.
I only hope for the members sake you and your mates do a better job than you did last time.

BTW everyone lets leave it here eveything has been said on this subject anymore is a waste of time and effort I'm sure all this energy can be used elswhere. thanks

I have met a lot of people from .com including you and Rod. I have no argument with anyone (although I dont agree with everyones views)
I arranged a charity event, and with the help of members from .com we raised over £1300 for the British Heart Foundation. I found most members decent charitable friendly folk. So to insult the whole of .com and make a joke of them is a crazy thing to do.

To say that" .com has a bad name" is an insult to all members and in my opinion is incorrect.

What has Rod done to offend anyone?

I also will stick up for Rod who has only ever been a positive influence in UKCougar.com. Any critism I have levelled is specifically aimed at the Admin and mods of .com. As Jezport points out .com have a lot of members who have on many occasions made altruistic gestures and genuinely interested in helping other members and people. So anyone posting here should try and reserve their comments only for individuals they may have had i ssues with. Lets use pm's in the way they were meant. It isn't right or fair that the whole membership should be targeted for riddicule. Any failings that .com may have had in the past is down to it's admin and mods in my opinion.

I think it's fair to say that there has been a fair bit of letting off steam over the last few days. I'd ask again all participants that have posted their frustrations to end it now. This forum's purpose is not meant to be an arena for people to go to war on. Like Jezport says let's get back to normal posting.

I used to look in here regularly for a long time as a guest, but when ukcougar.com developed the hole i decided to register and get the full benefit of being a NECO member as a brilliant alternative, i also registered on ukcougar.net for the same reasons. Within the last few days i realised there is actually a "neco uk" category, Thankyou, NECO, with quite a few members who i recognise originally from .com. But i am sorry guys, what i am seeing on here now is nothing short of laughable, the American members must be reading this and wondering what the hell we Brits are doing here, I checked every UK thread earlier today and without exception every single one was infested with the .com debacle.
I will not be involved in any argument regarding this subject, what i will say is "If or when UK Cougar (http://www.ukcougar.com) re-emerge, i will be there along with the other loyal friends and members, new and old alike. .com was the first cougar forum i found when i first bought my cat and i have attended meets and met some good guys there.I will still look in here and at .net and any other website/forum involved with the cougar. .com hopefully will emerge from its own ashes but with a much improved system management and member friendly admin (the people who pay the subs must be informed fully where the money is going) If the members walk away then the forum fails to exist anyway!"

New site, new mentality, new ukcougar.com

ps:
I would just like our American counterparts to know that I am the only sane person left in the UK :banghead:

I dont think i have ever been unfair (I am a mod on .com) and i would like to think that i am doing a good job and treat all people equally on there. But one i do not like is people generalising. I agree in a way that some people on the forum can seem overly agressive or see themselves higher than others, but i can also honestly say that there is a hell of a lot of really nice people on there too (but its like that on any forum with a variety of people). I have never been one for attending alot of meets but when i do i meet some very nice people.
Just as an example, Phil Robbo is a top bloke, Jamie has bwecome a good friend and is a top bloke, Viv (aussie cat) is very friendly and welcoming, Paul (shaggers) seems like a really nice and genuine person. Not taking away from anyone else, as there is many great people on there, but this is just a small section of people who make .com great.
