I think my car's tranny is out, i can only reverse though, its an automatic, when i switch to gear 1 and floor it, it will go for a few seconds but then it will act as if it's on neutral, i switch it to gear 2 and it wont go then to (D)rive and it still wont go forward, could it be something else? or should i replace the tranny?
should i go get it rebuild or get one from a junk yard?

My car has been parked for about 3 weeks now and sometimes i go in there to listen to music, the car always turns on fine but this morning i noticed the digital readout on the dash was not showing up clear, it showed some wierd stuff... so i disconnected my battery for a few mins, after reconnecting it i turned on the car, it turned on fine but the digital readout was totally blank, time/miles/ect.. it was all blank, ive read a couple of threads and i think it could be my alternator, i know it is about to die anytime soon, but just wanted to get some more opinions on what else it could be,

Thanks in advanced

yea i checked the fluid it was normal as for the link u posted, i don't think it has much to do with my case since they talking about their 'gas' and not mentioning that its blank, at least that wat i understood, thanks for ur opinion man.
I just wanted to be for sure if i need to replace the alt right away=/

Bumping after 1 day when you've posted in the wrong forum?

Moving so the first question can be answered- Then you probabaly have to go to the electronics forum...

I had similar problems to this when I had my Cutlass. With me the problem was the torque converter. I'm not an expert on transmissions either, but that was my experience.
