Well for the first time, I genuinely won a race.
I will describe this as well as I can, but understand I literally almost sh!t myself and has a heart attack at the same time.
I'm leaving work, and driving down a semi-major road. This is a 2 lane road that really should have nothing on it, but of course being NJ, it has businesses and shopping areas all along it. The entire road is only 2 lanes, 1 in either direction, with little or no shoulder area. 1 key point... there are signs ever couple hundred feet that read "HIGH ACCIDENT AREA" and have a Deer Crossing Sign over it.
So, I'm driving for maybe 1/4 of a mile, accelerating to the speed limit for 50 mph. I'm listening to the replay of Howard Stern on my Sirius Sat radio, laughing at something and all of a sudden I decide to turn my head to the left. A Deer is running directly at me. The side of the road he is coming from has car dealerships on it, and is very well lit, but the wodded area is on my side.
At that instant I see him, he turns back towards the dealership, and then runs basically along side me. So I'm in the right lane, and he's in the on coming traffic lane running at the same speed i am going.
I figure he wants to race me. He was crazy enough to charge at me already, so why not run for pinks... just kidding
So, There is no car in front of me, but there is a car a few car lengths back of me. In just a few seconds, I try to decide if I want to slam on my brakes or punch it. Knowing the Deer could cut across the road in a matter of 2 quick hops, I'm basically knowing that I will hit or get hit by a deer. And this is no small deer...
So I make my decision... I'm gonna punch it and hop for the best...
So I nail it... I hear that turbo spool, the RPM's rev and the car just goes...
At literally that same second, the deer cuts across the road, and goes behind me. At this point the vehicle behind me has to stop quickly, But I believe he must have seen the deer too...
It was f'n scary, and I was not happy. We see deer all over all the time, and we are used to it. However, even though we expect the deer to be there, I was lucky it was well lit due to the car dealerships... if it was another 1/2 mile up where it's total black, I probably would've hit the deer or been hit by it.
This Deer was a big one with nice rack ;) I mean antlers. Basically they were probably a good 18" long with branches starting to grow off of them.
Well that's my race story... so that's STi 1 Deer 0
