I might have a slight bias to that list....
Don't say you won't mod....it's a disease.
The porsche's insurance might put you off and I don't think you'll find an 00+ for under 20K. The tity is a personal choice and depends on which engine you get as well as quattro or not. The C70 convertible shakes like a leaf, the coupe's were fairly solid.
Handling wise the RX8 and the Porsche have that. They all will be nice cruisers.
Let me know what you want out of the car and I'll be able to give you some better suggestions.

I don't really care which one you get but could you take the Boxter off your list? I'm a fan of all that is porsche but I hate that thing. It's the biggest waste of money.....drop a 3l in your cougar and you have a car that is faster and hotter;)

not my cougar...
but i really just want a car thats classy and unique. Thats y i was really leaning towards the volvo c70 coupe. its a really nice car and i've driven it before... no comparison to my coug...
I dont care about having a fast car or one that handles better than a bmw... just a nice car looking car with a lil more power than the cougar and that is a smooth ride... clean and simple

i really like the elegance of this car.... to me an rx-8 is a bit on the teenage rebelious side. I donno someone prove me wrong, or make some other suggestions for nice cars under 20k

I'd go for the Volvo, one of my friends has a S60 and it's a very nice car. Very comfortable and it has some nice power to it as well.
The RX-8 would be a cool car too, but it's performance has been too flaky since it's release. It seems like it's very overrated to the factory numbers. But since you said you wouldn't be modding it, I'm sure it would be a fun and sporty car to drive around.

yea... i am in love with the c70... kinda unfair to the other choices but o well. however i did find some nice x-types after doing some research on the jag suggestion.. both cars are in the same 13-20k range with 40,000 miles... i think i need to test drive both cars and look at them in person to see which one i like more... hopefully, if there is no snow on the ground this weekend, ill hit some dealerships up. Keep an eye out for me!

I rather choose a the Volvo over the Jag, I don;t know about their new build quality but in previous years its been horrible. Currently I would stay away from Mercedes we own a 04 Kompressor that is plagued with porblems. We can;t wait till its lease is up. Were tired of sending it in and crappy dea;er rentals that smeel liek **** and all. But then again the parents went out and bought an 07. So I dunno what they were thinking. The 07 Holds up better just looks like POOH cuz its the Automatic version.

Your RX-8 gets worse gas mileage than an Expedition, though...

Ya think so huh?
Highway I've gotten 22, city is about 17. Last time I checked, an expedition couldn't hold a torch to that.

Hmm. I have a friend who has one, and he can't even hit 20 on the freeway. And he's not a "car guy" - so he doesn't even rag it out.
Even so, 22 mpg TOPS out of 1.3L of displacement? And they call this "revolutionary"???

I agree the mileage does vary alot from car to car....there are some who can't get out of the low teens and others that get above 20 no matter how they drive. The main thing with the rotary is that they run so rich when cold that extended warm ups suck down a ton of fuel. When we had the ice storm Valentines day I used about 1/8 of a tank just letting the car warm up and melt the ice, that was about 15 minutes....damn emmisions.
Don't look at it in terms of displacement, the rotary inhales the same amount of air as a V6 engine with ~3.9 liters of displacement. The more air, the more fuel.....it's not meant to be an economy car, it's meant to be a sports car.
