No it didn't. Ice was the main reason. The second reason I believe to be lack of interest. This would actually be my first meet, so I really wanted it to happen and meet some of my fellow cougar owners. Next sat or sunday will be perfect. But its only going to happen if people actually show up........I know everybody is busy....so am I. Let's take a moment of silence.......Is this the end of a chapter?!?!?!?!?!?:(

LOL, I do admit I am busy as well, but I would def take the time to go see and meet fellow Neco members, whether they have moved on from the Cougar or not. But I refuse to go to a meet in the current vechile I drive now while little odds and ends are being cleared up with the car. You would be to easy to meet I have family in Belle Harbor. Usually Pat and I would meet at local tuner meets and Pat, Myself and Pablo would meet at HOOTS! I don;t care I am down for anywhere...even DPA as long as my DPA is functional!

How did you end up keeping the coug?

I actually had it on ebay and cancelled the auction 5 mins before it ended. I just couldn't do it. I know it's just a car....But I have put so much time and effort into it I couldn't let it go yet. I borowed money from my pension to help out with the closing on the house...so far...so good. I finish doing the carbon fiber inserts and I going to reskin the seats a different color. Instead of red/black I'm going for dark gray with light gray inserts. I'm trying to get another set of seats so I can have 2 sets but I haven't been able to find them( at least at a decent price). I got the custm sub enclosure chuck was selling and I gotta tell you it looks breath taking>>>> Hope we can get to do this meet.....There is so much I want to learn about engine mods.....:evil: I want meet.

im waiting for my new rims to get here, cuz my cat isnt driveable until they get here... hopefully should be here tomorrow, and ill have time to put em on after work (i hope) Im also off from the 28th till i think the 4th of next month... ehhh a few months ago i was told they were warped.... 2 weeks ago i was drivin on 17 next to a frost cougar, hit 90 and all of a suddon i hear like the noise that sounds like a flat tire... tires not flat, assumed that i was lucky i got as much out of the wheels i did, and ordered new ones, which has been a hassle, wheelsnext has been a horror to deal with for me but oh well, they SHOULD be here by monday or tuesday hopefully

Saturday the 11th. Let's try to get at least 10 of us. Bring anything you want to sell/trade. I'm not really a pro when it comes to meets, but we've put this off long enough. I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys. The original idea of Flushing Meadows Park is a good choice. Unless it would be better of for the masses to meet somewhere else.

As long as we get the date in place everything else will fall in to place.

Definitely APRIL. The weather is too unpredictable in March. Besides, my Cougar will not be on the road until April 1st. Flushing Meadow Park sounds perfect. I fly model planes there on the weekend. The Cougar has a nice cargo area to hold my planes!!

what about a meet soon now, and then in mid to late April another meet but make it a BBQ instead and we can plan for that starting now.

Unless people have to travel 50+ miles to get there?
So a meet now in a week or 2 meet up talk swap stories take pictures then head off to some were to eat. The good thing about that location is if it rains we can park underneath the overpass and stay dry.

And in mid-late April have a BBQ?

I think a mini meet before april sounds like a great ideA. Sunday the 12th might be a good day. If who ever needs to travel far to meet can't make it, at least we will have THE BIG ONE in april. The actual park is located in queens new york. Grand central Pkwy exit 9E. Turn right towards the UNISPHERE PARKING!!! I WILL BE THERE AROUND 1PM OR BEFORE..tHE EXIT ON THE VAN WYCK WILL TAKE YOU ON THE LAKE!!!!!

THE UNISFERE IS A MONUMENT THAT CAN BE SEE FROM PRETTY FAR( IT LOOKS LIKE A EARTH GLOBE....i BELIEVE THE TWO TOWERS FROM THE WORLD FARE CAN BE SEEN AS WELL( This is where men in black was filmed) tHEY ARE HUGE!!! sO IT WILL EASILY IDENTIFIED.

I was there till about three...Was that you racing on gcp toward the exit around then? tHer were lots of cars but no cougars!!!!!!It was such a nice day too. I was driving around from parking lot to parking lot....From the theater to the ice cating ring and so on and so forth.....:banghead:

I gotta say.....Flushing meadows park will be perfect for our next ATTEMPT to meet....as everyone can see from darkend pics...we can take some awsome pictures there and there is plenty of space. Actual directions to get there.....EXIT 9P ON THE GRAND CENTRAL PKWY. It's right next to shea stadium and the tennis open stadium. Once off the exit make a right. You will see the museum, ice scating ring and eventually the world fair arena

First weekend of April sounds like a good bid. I would hate to go there again and find ghosts though!!!!

So EVERYONE!!!!! Check your calendars and propose some days....I'll treat everyone to wendy's......:evil:

I ended up having to work since one of our guys went to Arizona for the week. The first week in April I will be in Florida....but I'll keep an eye on this thread and see what you guys come up with for dates and times. Then I'll be able to say definetly if I can come or not.

Will do, but she's down again, a buddy for went a joy ride and shattered the #3 piston and sent the #3 rod through the block, just bought a new motor and setting it up to handle roughly around 500hp :biggrin:

Were going half and half on the worked motor.

Correct! It was tuned and ran like a champ! Its hard to tell what caused it but I think b/c the internals were weakened by the rust the car got eventually slower and he blew the motor. Fortunatly it was with him inside it. Thast why were going half and half :)

i highly doubt it was rust. i dunno the details of the motor that blew up, but if it was a stock motor...stock pistons do not like boost very much. they tend to crack fairly easily. Usually near the edge at first, weak ring lands.

main bearings are another large weakness. stock rods are pretty strong, but you could bend one if the car is detonating.

i dunno if you have, but you may want to stop onover to www.contour.org and post in the forced induction forum. there's alot of old timers with lots of experience boosting the 2.5 duratec.

I smashed my (DS)headlight so I'll be looking like a cyclops for a while but hopefully this gives me the chance to through in HID projectors that I had sitting for a while.

The motor was hydrolocked when I bought it, water was not sucked into the engine instead it came into the engine in the form of rain. The spark plug wires were not on tight and water was allowed to get into the engine. We frred up most of the engine but it was piston,rod and bearing #3 that gave us the most trouble. We conclude that the rod and bearing would freeze up time to time and eventually, hence the car got slower. When we first drove it this thing was spinning tires from 1-3 and barely did. We thought it was vacuum problem, etc.. but in the end it wasn't. I pulled the motor today, ended being alot worse then we thought, rust is seen in the valve cover, wish I had my camera so I can take pics. WIll try to do today.
