I just wanted to start this seperate thread to get a hard number of those that are planning on sending things in, what they are sending in and what color. I just want to make sure i will have enough powder for your item so i don't have to hold it for a few extra days while more powder comes in. My new ovens get hooked up today in place of the smaller ones and i'm itching to try the new ones out.

Hmmm...let's see...

I have an valve covers, timing covers, and an UIM that i would want powerdcoated. Prolly just some type of silver. Not chrome...just silver. How much you want to do that Eric?

PS...everytime i think of you all i can picture is you deepthroating that beer bottle at that meet in ATL a long time ago. And then you spilled SOME of your tea in your lap...so then you proceeded to pour the WHOLE drink in your lap! lol good times! I cannot remember the name of the place we ate...it was the meet where we went to the Summit store.

it was a nice restaraunt haha, it was great, i haven't had a request for silver yet, chrome yes, no silver yet. I'll show you some silvers and you can pick out which ones you like. Pm me your email and i'll send you some picks of silver.

Got another oven today for smaller items. The glass beads i got in strip stuff ALOT faster than my previous beads. I'm going to have to invest in a bigger aircompressor, i have a large one but the media blaster uses alot of pressure. It's good for now but i can see it wearing on the one i use.

Calipers, in a polished, chrome or silver paint...any pics of colors of the color you have?

How much? How long do you think it will take to have it done from me shipping it to you, powder coating it, sending it back?

Clutch

i quote two weeks from the time you put it in the mail. That's mainly to cover my ass as i do them quicker than that but i don't want anyone getting upset. I have a problem doing calipers because i fear the material surrounding the pistons in a caliper would be hurt from 400 degrees for up to 30 minutes depending on color. I have several pictures of the color, but need to know what your looking for and i can email them to you. But yes i wouldn't want to bake your calipers and have you get in a wreck because of it.

Pm'd and called. Just drop me a line and let me know what you are wanting done.

I have seen some brake calipers done so they can be done, I am unfamiliar with the piston mechanism's reaction to heat, although it would have to take the heat from the brakes...hmmm. I don't want to have anyone get in a wreck. I'm still on the fence about those.

Let me know if you are doing it!! I want some red calipers done! But be certain they can be done.

Yeah, i have a couple people that have asked me to do them but i don't know of a way of doing them, i could take a junkyard set and make sure they work after i bake them by backing them in and out but i don't know if i'd trust it, let me do a little more research on the subject.

Clutch

Looks like they would have to be completely disassembled before powdercoating, Unless people sent them to me disassembled there would be a decent amount of $ for labor taking them apart and putting them together. I'll practice on a couple of sets and let you know

Ooooh.

If the calipers work out...you might just be getting a set of Solstice calipers.

Id be going black with those though, and little high temp vinyl "Solstice" stickers.

Clutch
02-08-2007, 06:17 AM
IF you have the stickers first, i could use them and powdercoat a bottom color, put those on then put the black on. After they are done pull the stickers off and have a black caliper with whatever color letters you want.

Clutch

Ok, after research about half the people disassemble them and half dont. I'm still torn but i would feel much better about taking them apart so that i know the seals dont degrade

**** setting up a virtual terminal on Paypal sucks, should be another day but i can still accept payments and send out invoices. I just can't link it to my website yet. Speaking of i really should change that thing around, it looks like a 4 year old made it.

Clutch

Clutch

I now can accept credit cards without having to use paypal. It would just cost a little more.

XplosivePlushToy
02-08-2007, 06:17 PM
Ill stick with PayPal.

Anyway, how much would it cost for calipers?

Clutch
02-09-2007, 08:40 AM
pm'd my preliminary thoughts on pricing those

Clutch
02-13-2007, 09:33 AM
Ok, we will do calipers, all new calipers will be done no problem but with older ones, that might have degraded seals we recommend you get them rebuilt or can perform that function for a fee.

Spent a few hours in the shop and powdercoated a bunch of things including a few sample pieces. We did one thing that just wouldn't strip down but we coated it anyway to show how strong it is. It bonded just fine and we hit it with hammers as hard as we could and nothing flaked or chiped at all, the piece is beat to hell but it is still completely covered

Is that powder addictive or something?

Clutch

I just finished up a set of 4wheeler wheels so i may have inhaled too many fumes. I've got piping and fans to direct the fumes and i have really nice filtering equipment for breathing but it's for pussies. You should always check for when it turns to liquid by sitting next to the oven and breathing deeply.
