Fest Date Poll Closed

We have 2 options for dates in July for fest

Option 1: Roll in on Thursday July 5 and Roll out on Sun morning July 8

Option 2: Roll in on Thursday July 12, and Roll out on Sun morning July 15

These are the dates that we will offically have our rooms blocked off

ohio is official, dont worry about the hotel, its taken care of. they eliminated themselves quickly so it made it easy

It makes sense though . . . seems like a very convenient time to squeeze in an extra couple days of vacation since a lot of places will be shut down on the fourth.

Looks like the rental-kart track has an event going on during the weekend of the 5th... :( And of course the dragstrip still has no 2007 schedule up on their site so we'll see if they will be open during said weekend.

as of right now, none of the local autox regions have schedules posted. i will becontacting them to see if they have any information, and as bobbo said karts are booked(doenst mean you cant go watch) and drag is unsure for the moment

It looks like the first weekend is pretty far ahead, so I put in today to have the 4th thru 10th off. I figure if we leave AZ early Wed. AM, we should be able to make Ohio sometime Thursday afternoon/evening stopping for a short nap overnight somewhere). Head out Sunday (maybe Monday) and get back to AZ on Tuesday.

I've got a plan figured out on how to fund a large portion of the costs for this, so right now I see no reason I wouldn't be able to make it this year.

You've always lived in a city, haven't you? I actually LIKE seeing 40 miles between exits. It's what the interstates were meant for...not these "get on one exit then get off a mile later" setups we have now.

The SHORT way across Texas is rediculous. Going across I-40, that part of Texas is the most BORING stretch of highway EVER. Completly flat, and not a tree in sight for over 100 miles. :disgust:

Me and Royce have been talking, and we think we may try to make Kansas City on the first day (he has family and friends where we could stay for the night for free). Google Maps claims 19 hours and change, but I would have to imagine we could easily knock an hour off of thatfrom what I remember about how they "calculate" est. time. They claim KC -> Boardman, OH in about 12 hours, so as long as we make KC on Day 1, we should be fine for Thursday. :biggrin:

i think if i actually had some music or some audiobooks, i wouldn't mind it as much. its just that seeing more exits gives me a sense of accomplishment. like counting down to fest by months. if you break it down by days, yes you have more of them, but they go by faster. the portion of my drive through ohio and indiana felt like it went by faster b/c the exits were closer and more plentiful.

the 40 miles between isn't as bad as the fact that the space in between those exits is like the background of a bugs bunny cartoon, repeptitive. you find yourself asking yourself "didn't i just pass that?!"

mapquest had me doing it in 16 hours but i did it in 13

Sami you can choose what airport you like best. Boardman is about an hour from Cleveland or Pittsburgh. Canton/Akron is between Boardman and Cleveland also, probably about 40 minutes or so. :biggrin:

As for CLeveland/pittsburgh and such, I would fly into pittsburgh if I were you, cleveland is a hole for an airport and can get confusing to get here from there.
