View Full Version : Figuring out pinouts on my PCM

I have decided to take the wiring harness off my pcm to see if I can make some sense out of the diagnostic connector under the hood.

Before I get myself in really deep and destroy something I am unaware of.

Is there anything other than disconnecting the battery that is necessary when taking the wiring harness off the pcm?

It seems to be very difficult to get a standard size spanner onto the bolt that holds the wiring harness to the pcm. Is there a special tool for this?? or just struggle away with a 10mm spanner?

Would it be easier to take the complete pcm out first and then disconnect the wiring harness or is this overkill.

Just after a bit of guidance.

I have asked this here as I think this forum has those who are aware of the pcm and its sensitivities.

Inside the attached zip file, is an Excel file with the pinouts for the PCM, and a few other modules, explained...

is this what you are trying to do?

if not, to remove the harness, disconect the battery, put a 10mm socket on a few extensions and it comes right off with very little effort

Wonderful, thankyou for the zip file that is full of info I am going to compare to the MPV.

The how to remove the harness was the info I was after so a double thankyou.

Will now have a look at mine to see what I can find.

Does anybody have a pinout for the auto version of the PCM for the cougars?

Know what you mean, the old digital camera we had used 3.5" floppies, and the most frustrating thing was after taking photo's having it come and say on the pc...."disk error"
