I'm currently doing some experimentation with another member on the 2.5L SVT engine and I need some additional data.
I need data from both 2.5L and 3L engines.
1. You must have an XCAL2 and ability to take datalogs and email them.
2. Engine setups I need:
- 2.5L SVT engine that has a stock MAF and injectors, operational imrc
- 2.5L SVT engine stock maf and injectors with removed secondaries
- 3L SVT with SVT UIM/LIM and operational imrc
- 3L SVT with SVT UIM/LIM and removed secondaries
- 3L engine direct drop in swap with 3L cams and intakes
3. All cars Preferred to have MSDS/weaponR headers and SVT type or better intake system.
4. All must be in good mechanical order and reasonably tuned.
I'm using the data gathered in this experiment to assess the value of the IMRC system, to determine the benefit of SVT cams over non SVT cams, and benefits of dual runner intake manifolds. Once I get the information I will publish the results with credit to all who assisted.
If you can do this then I need datalogs of 3rd or 4th gear pulls and the following pieces of data:
-load
-maf counts
-maf airflow
-intake temp (IAT)
-engine temp (ECT)
-RPM
-Spark (engine spark or total actual spark)
-Max allowed spark
-borderline spark
other data included is fine but these are the minimums.
If you wish to participate and can meet these conditions then please let me know.

Yeah, you could be in just for a added depth to what I'm looking at. I'd like to see what your car is doing anywy.
If you guys are in, please take the datalog at the first opportunity and just email it to me. Should be able to find my email from my profile.
I would like to get all this data together soon and then publish the results. I won't have a lot of time starting the following week.

Way to late for me to use it. Unless I don't get anyone else between now and then. Thanks for the offer though.
Speaking of which:
Where is everyone else with all these high speed cougars and awesome setups? I've got the 3L with SVT stuff, just need someone with a 3L drop-in project to do the same thing, and of course the 3L without the IMRC setup so that I can complete the picture.

Joey...i don't have a 3L yet...it's still sitting on my garage floor! :banghead:
But i will go home and take a good datalog of 4th gear all the way thru, and send it to you Tom. I have a 2.5L non-SVT though. The only thing i don't have is the cams...installed. I have them but they are too on the floor. I have a regular 2.5 w/o secondaries, 65mm TB, SVT UIM/LIM 17# injectors, Weapon-R headers, trubendz y-pipe, 2.5 Trubendz exhaust.

You don't need a Pro Racer Pack.
You only need a laptop, an XCal2, and the software that is downloaded for free from www.sctflash.com
The software is called "livelink"
You may need to download the windows drivers so that windows XP will recognized the XCal2 as a USB device.
YOu download it to your laptop, install it. Go to the car and turn on the laptop. Start the car and plug in the xcal2 to the obdII port. Then plug the USB cable from the laptop to the xcal2
Start the Livelink software and click on the little graph icon. Then select the different pieces of data you want to datalog from a list. After that you click on the button to start the datalog. It will initialize the PIDs and then you should see "Passthru" on the screen of the xcal2. Then you will start getting a nice graph on screen with all the data.
When you are done logging the runs you want to run, click stop and then save the data. You can then take subsequent runs.
A piece of advice, put a descriptive title with a date in the file name such as:
"run1 3rd gear 3Jan07.scv"
and so on so you don't loose track of the circumstances.
Now those of you who weren't sure, Git-R-Done!

Joey when is your PRP coming in? If you want i can go get your car and delete the IMRCs before you get back, and get a datalog of it before it gets tuned...and then after it gets tuned. Or is your car already in TN?

I need one of deleted IMRCs, but wouldn't you rather be patient and wait to see what happens with the results first?
By the way, ANYONE with an xcal2 can use it to datalog another car. You just can't load a tune into two different cars. You can datalog and reset codes on any Ford OBDII (maybe OBDI??) system with it.
I have an XCal and a full 3L oval-port with SVT cams, but I don't have a deleted IMRC.
Oh, and the turbo. Does that mess things up?

WOW..thats cool.
If anyone down near cincy has an Xcal and wants to meet up we can do the datalog on my car.
I have the secondaries removed w/ SVT Cams / LIM / UIM and 24# injectors. It might not help out the experiment much since I don't have a tune.

Well, hate to say it but a turbo takes away the significance of it. looking for NA motors.
On the other hand it wont hurt to have it... and I can examine your setup and advise as necessary.

Tom,
I should have your datalogs done tomorrow ... I plan on doing a redline run in 1st - 4th, but since my clutch only has 24.3 miles on it, I need to slowly roll into the throttle and then slowly roll out between shifts. However, I plan on taking it to the limiter (7400 soft, 7500 hard) ... this should be interesting!!!

Good. In case you haven't seen, it is tomorrow already. I may go do something else in a little while and not get to work on this until later.
I still need a 2.5L with SVT cams and intakes to make a run. Any cougars out there with SVT cams and intakes and an XCAL2?
Also, another straight 3L drop in motor with 3L ovalport intakes and cams would help out. I've got one but would like a second one to verify the stuff.
One more 3L ovalport with split port intakes would help, any kind of cam okay but just need working IMRC system.

Stock 2.5L engine with IMRC delted (tunes not required)
3L engine with straight drop-in 3L conversion, no SVT cougar manfiolds orcompontents, just oval-port stuff
3L engine with Cougar/contour components but with a deleted IMRC

The xcal2 can be bought at brenspeed.com or another SCT dealer. Look on www.sctflash.com for the local dealer.
Still, unless you want to tune your car, or want to start doing lots of datlogging, then $350 is a lot of cash for an xcal2 just for a couple of datalogs. I couldn't ask that of you.
However, if you get access to one then please do send any datalogs you get that fit the format I asked for in the beginning of this post.
