I'll sort of update this as more news becomes available, but I'm bored at work right now so I figured I'd just start this up and keep everyone abreast of the situation.

It appears that CougarFest is going to be held in Boardman, Ohio this year. I'm not exactly thrilled by this decision, but right now its running away with the lead in the poll about the location.

With that being said, I'm interested in finding out who's definitely going, who's on the fence about going, and who is interested in going if CougarFest ends up being in Indianapolis instead of Boardman.

I'm hoping we get a bigger showing for this year's event then last year's, as only me, J-man and RonRazz made the trek east to Indy.

To that end, I realize the drive may be something of a deterrant, and understandably so. I'm not exactly salivating at the prospect of a nine-hour drive, which is the ballpark distance from Rock Island to Boardman. For anyone coming from parts farther west, having to cover all of that distance in one day doesn't seem like much fun.

So, I'm offering up my humble abode as a flophouse of sorts, for anyone interested in making the drive in two parts. If you're travelling on Interstate 80 - and you should be, I have NO clue what other way you'd go to get there faster - you'll end up running right smack in to Rock Island. Anyone who wants to can crash out the night before we depart for Cougarfest at my place, leaving just one long, but manageable, leg of the trip left.

Last year Justin came down the night before and we got up and on the road and beat cleats to Effingham, IL, where we linked up with IL, WI and Gateway NECO and handled the remainder of the drive to Indy. The route from here to Boardman is pretty much a beeline east on I-80, hopefully one that can be covered fairly quickly.

So, who's in, who has questions, comments, just want to call my car purple, what? Lets hear what Midwest has to say!

 I just read that now.

Even though it is WAY too early to start planning, I would assume we could arrange a meeting point for you guys to meet up with the other IL folk. We'll have to play it by ear for right now.

When did we go that fast? We barely hit 80 most of the way.

Bs.

BS yourself son, I didn't get up over 75 when we were heading to Effingham, and we just couldn't get over 80 on the rest of the trip, traffic was too heavy. There may have been some very brief stretches of high-speed runs, but tucked in a pack of cars you'd be just fine.

Of course, you could also just STOP GETTING FRICKING TICKETS.

I drive like a grandma now. I don't ever turn my radar on either, it gave me a false sense of security and now that it's turned off I find myself being a lot more cautious.

Head on a swivel son, thats the best way to be. Unfortunately you own a red car, so you stick out like a sore thumb. I think the Cougar being Melina Blue works to my advantage . . . darker colors that aren't black seem to do well.

Whens the last ticket you got?

I was all excited that I was going to be able to go this year since I now live in Indianapolis. Of course the very year I move, so does Cougarfest...so I can't go again. :(

Hope you all have fun in the Buckeye state. I can't imagine folks coming from further west would bother to stay in Indianapolis since, by that point, you'll already be so close to Ohio you might as well just press on...but if anyone DOES come through Indy, look me up.

I will have to see when the dates are. If it is the first weekend in July then NO I can't b/c of my work. But I am excited to go to Ohio. (close to Pitts).

Thanks Ryan for the invite to stay, If I go we will have to do that 2 part drive or I will see if I can drive until Springfield OH ( just outside of C-bus).

So hey, CougarFest is only 2 months away. Who all from the Midwest is going, we should start planning a caravan thread soon too.
